Mark Your Calendars: Count Day is Wednesday, October 7th!
Wednesday, October 7th, is official Count Day across Michigan public schools! On Count Day, state funding is directly tied to student attendance. These state funds directly support our classroom resources, educational programs, and staffing at Woodside Elementary.
How you can help:
Ensure your child arrives on time and stays for the full school day.
If your child must be absent due to illness, please call our attendance line as early as possible so we can properly document their absence for state compliance.
Thank you for helping us start the year strong and ensuring our school gets the funding our students deserve!
🏫 Checking In with Mrs. Irizarry
OCTOBER – “Attendance Builds Confidence”
Students who attend school regularly feel more secure and confident. They understand classroom expectations and develop positive relationships with teachers and classmates. Showing up helps kids feel like they belong.
Our office continues to monitor attendance closely this fall. Count on us to reach out when we begin to notice patterns and to celebrate awesome attendance! We are grateful to partner with our school community around attendance!

🩳 Clothing Donations
Our school’s supply of small bottoms (pants/shorts) and NEW, unopened underwear in sizes 5–9 is currently completely empty. These items are so important for students who may have a bathroom accident or need a change of clothes during the school day.
If you have any new or gently usable bottoms or new, unopened underwear (sizes 5–9) that you’d be willing to donate, we would be incredibly grateful! Have pants your kids have outgrown? We will gladly take it!
Families with students in Kindergarten–3rd grade: We also encourage you to pack an extra outfit (or two!) in your child’s backpack, just in case they need a change of clothes during the school day.
Thank you for helping us take care of our Woodside students!
