High School Program of Studies and Course Selection for 2026-2027:ย
The school counseling time is excited to begin the course selection process in January for the 2026-2027 school year. Course selection will occur electronically. Please review the INSTRUCTIONS and contact your studentโs counselor if you have any questions. The 2026-2027 High School Program of Studies, Department Sequence Charts, and the Four-Year Planning Tool are available on the High School Counseling Department Web Page to assist students and parents as they make course selections. The timeline below indicates the dates that the PowerSchool Parent Portal will be accessible for course selection and dates for student/counselor scheduling meetings.
High School Counselors will be conducting group scheduling presentations for current 9th-11th graders. During this time the counselors will briefly discuss career pathways, the course selection process and assist the students in beginning a preliminary schedule. The school counselors will conduct individual meetings with students in Grades 11, 10, and 9 to confirm their course selections starting in late January. The counselors will start with rising seniors and then meet with rising juniors and sophomores. High School counselors will meet with students in grade 8 in the middle school in March.

RESOURCES FOR YOUR CHILD & EVERYONE ๐ค OUR CLINICAL CORNER-
In keeping with discussing the holidays, while they can and should be a joyful time, they can be challenging after the death of someone you were close to. I wanted to share two good resources to help manage grief, around the holidays and just in general. Good-grief.org and the Dougy Center-www.dougy.org. The Dougy Center has an article titled Tips For Getting Through The Holidays with seven short strategies:
Plan ahead-having a plan can minimize concerns, especially for children/teens.
Donโt let other people determine what you โshouldโ or โshouldnโtโ do.
Accept limitations. Doing things differently, even if that means less is ok.
Celebrate different feelings and preferences.
Be informed before attending events. Knowing what to expect can be helpful.
Ask for help, even when itโs hard to do. People are eager to help.
Take care of your physical body. Try to schedule downtime and rest.
While none of these are revolutionary, sometimes we just need reminders whether for ourselves or someone else.
