Parking

Reminder: The City of Red Deer placed new signs in front of our school. The section out front of our main doors has now been split into three sections. As you pull up, the first section is a City Bus lane with no public parking. The second section is RDCRS specialized bus lane with no public parking between the hours of 8-9am and 2:30-3:30pm. The third section is student drop and go with where drivers must remain in their vehicles. The North Parking Lot, located closest to the Foundations and Blended Program entrance, is designated for guest and parent parking. Some staff will also be required to park in this lot. The South East lot, near the Grade 9 doors, is reserved for staff parking and the bus roundaboutβ€”parents are asked not to park in this area. Finally, we ask all families to be mindful of our neighbors by avoiding parking in front of houses or in nearby alleys, as this creates safety concerns. This is especially important on game nights when we have an abundance of visitors parking near the school.

Attendance

If your child is leaving early or is being picked up by someone else, please contact the office to let us know. We do need to hear straight from the parent if this is happening. Thank you for your understanding!

Bus Status - IMPORTANT

It is important for families to have access to the bus status notifications so they are aware of any changes to the bus drop off and pick up times. There are two ways to view the status of your child's bus status. You can either go to our website and look at the bus status on the right hand side or you can download the Bus Status 4 App in your app store. The app is available for both apple or android users.

Download the New Bus Status App!

Bus Status 4 for iOS and Android notifies you when your school bus is cancelled or delayed.

Please download the Bus Status app at your earliest convenience to continue or to receive school bus notifications from Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools. To install this app, please follow the directions below:

Step 1: Download the Bus Status app by Box Clever.

Step 2: Open the app and select Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools from the list (you only need to select your district the first time you open the app. Bus Status will remember your selection).

Step 3: Go to All Buses. Tap the star to add a bus to My Buses.

Step 4: You’ll receive a notification when one of your buses is delayed, cancelled, or early.

Step 5: Tap the bell icon to see general notifications from Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools.

There are many ways to get involved at SLR β€” whether you are competing for a school team, developing your skills through intramurals, or simply supporting your Golden Eagles teammates!

  1. β€œSenior” Volleyball tryouts.

Senior tryouts began this week and kicked off for our Senior girls on Thursday.

Senior Girls Volleyball Tryouts are Thursday, Sept 3 from 3:10 - 4:45 and Wednesday, September 9 from 3:10 - 4:45.

Senior Boys Volleyball tryouts are Tuesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 10 from 3:10 - 4:45!!

Grade nine students only will qualify to play for our Senior team and will not be eligible to play on the Junior 1 or Junior 2 teams at St. Lorenzo.

  1. Junior Volleyball tryouts

Junior Girls : Tuesday, September 15th and Thursday, September 17th 3:10 - 4:45

Junior Boys: Monday MORNING FROM 7:00AM - 8:20AM and Wednesday, September 16 from 3:10 - 4:45

Please note - If a Grade 7 or 8 student attends Senior tryouts but does not make the Senior team, they will still have the opportunity to participate in the Junior league. We strongly encourage these students to also attend the Junior tryouts so our coaches can evaluate them for a Jr team.

Students in Grades 7 and 8 who do not feel comfortable trying out at the Senior level do not have to attend Senior tryouts. They can simply attend the Junior tryouts and focus on earning a spot on one of our Junior teams.

Grade 6 students should plan to attend the Junior tryouts. This is their opportunity to demonstrate their skills and compete for a spot on a Junior team.

🏐 WHAT IF I DON'T MAKE A TEAM?

Not making a competitive team does not mean the end of your athletic journey!

Students who do not make a team but are still interested in volleyball and improving their athletic skills will be encouraged to participate in our intramural program during lunch hour/recess. Intramurals are a great way to stay active, build skills, develop confidence, and continue being part of our athletic community.

Come out, give it your best, and show us what you can do! πŸ¦…
