This Week at Royal
March 1 - 7
Reminder! Monday, March 1 is a student holiday / staff work day.
Hello Falcons,
I'm Christi Ginn, and my role at Royal is to share great news about our incredible Falcon students and about the Royal community, and I love sharing your positive stories. I joined the team at Royal ISD in late October 2019 and I've spent the past 16 months getting to know your community and establishing a district communications program. Royal ISD does a phenomenal job preparing students for their futures, and I'm blessed to be trusted with sharing your stories.
In the coming weeks and months, I'm going to request YOUR stories about why Royal is a great place to live, learn, and work. I'll be featuring various group in the community, including weekly "Throwback Thursday" stories featuring former students, spotlights on the class of 2021, student organization spotlights, and more!
FALCONS HELPING FALCONS! During the coming week, please submit stories of community members who went above and beyond to help their neighbors recover from the recent severe winter weather. Please submit stories via email to falconstrong@royal-isd.net. Please include names, description of how the person(s) helped their neighbors, pictures, and any other relevant information. I will share those stories over the coming week. I look forward to hearing your stories about neighbors helping neighbors!
I hope you have a wonderful week!

Quote of the Week
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world."

“One day our descendants will think it incredible that we paid so much attention to things like the amount of melanin in our skin or the shape of our eyes or our gender instead of the unique identities of each of us as complex human beings.” —Franklin Thomas

Texas Disaster Impacts Self-Reporting Survey
Was your home or property damaged during last week’s severe weather? If so, please complete the Texas Disaster Impacts Self-Reporting Tool.
The objective of this survey is to identify damages across Texas, to help emergency management officials across the state gain an understanding of damages that have occurred during the recent winter weather.
Please submit one survey per impacted address.
Reporting damage to Emergency Management is a voluntary activity, is not a substitute for reporting damage to your insurance agency, and does not guarantee disaster relief assistance.

Scam of the Week: Exploiting the Coronavirus: Vaccine Invitation Scam
Access to the COVID-19 vaccine is limited, which leaves many people anxiously waiting for a way to further protect themselves from the virus. Cybercriminals are taking advantage of this anxiety with vaccine-themed phishing emails.
A recent phishing attack in the UK spoofs the National Health Service (NHS). The phishing email claims that you have the opportunity to get vaccinated and it includes a link to accept the invitation. If you click on the link, a convincing NHS look-alike page opens. The phony site asks for personal information such as your name, address, and phone number, along with your credit card and banking details. Unfortunately, any information that you provide here goes straight to the cybercriminals and you are not in line for vaccination.
Follow these tips to stay safe from similar scams:
- We all want the pandemic to be over and this attack tries to exploit those feelings. Don’t let the bad guys toy with your emotions. Think before you click!
- Don’t trust an email. Visit an official government website or a trusted news source for information on vaccine availability.
- Remember, even if the sender appears to be a legitimate organization, the email address could be spoofed.
