Monday Message/El mensaje del lunes!
Dear La Escuela Fratney Families,
Welcome to our Monday Message!
The highlight of this week will be our Schoolwide Open House on Thursday from 5:00–7:00 PM, and we hope all of our families will join us for this special celebration of learning and community. This is one of the biggest and most exciting events of the school year!
During the evening, all classrooms will be open as students proudly showcase their learning and projects focused on different countries from around the world. Many grade levels will also perform special songs and dances for families and guests. All teachers will be present, and there will be many opportunities to explore the school, celebrate student learning, and connect as a community.
We will also have:
• Free books and family resources
• Student presentations and performances beginning at 6:00 PM
• A community potluck meal beginning at 6:30 PM
The first hour of the event will focus on exploring classrooms and student work before performances and presentations begin. We encourage everyone to come early and enjoy all that our students and staff have prepared!
Important Reminder for Student Safety:
To ensure all teachers have time to prepare for the event and to support student safety, all students must either:
• Be picked up by a parent/guardian at the normal dismissal time of 4:15 PM, or
• Ride the bus home and return with their families for the Open House at 5:00 PM.
Please note that CLC will close at 5:00 PM on Thursday so that students, staff, and families can fully participate in the Open House event. Any students attending CLC must be picked up by 5:00 PM.
We are looking forward to a fun, engaging, and joyful evening together. Thank you for being an important part of the La Escuela Fratney community, and we hope to see everyone on Thursday!

Volunteers
Volunteers
Are you interested in volunteering at La Escuela Fratney? We welcome volunteers to support with arrival, lunch, and recess times. Per our school policy, families are not able to volunteer in their own child's classroom on an ongoing basis. If you are interested in volunteering in classrooms, it must be a different classroom and be organized and approved through the parent coordinator Ms. Grace.
Here is the paragraph from the MPS Family manual that describes the volunteer process:
Family Volunteers
Persons interested in volunteering are encouraged to follow the appropriate volunteer application process defined by the district. MPS defines a volunteer as a person who provides services on an ongoing or one-time basis. Persons looking to serve on an ongoing basis or for more than five hours a week or for an overnight field trip must complete an online volunteer application, pass a criminal background check (for those 18 years of age or older), and receive a volunteer assignment by the school administrator or parent coordinator. Persons looking to participate in a daytime field trip or other one-time activity must complete a volunteer waiver form. The online volunteer application and the volunteer waiver form are available on the MPS website under the Families tab > Volunteer.
