School District of Westfield
A Message From the Superintendent
March 25, 2025 - Students Shine and Spring Kicks Off!
As the snow melts and the days grow longer, our students have been busy!
The Middle School Student Council spread some St. Patrick’s Day cheer at Lily Meadows this month, dressing up as leprechauns and entertaining residents with a game of "Whack-a-Naughty Leprechaun," an Irish dance, spring coloring, and a dice game. It’s hard to say who had more fun — the residents or the leprechauns!
Coloma CHAMPS hosted their Annual Spring Dance at Coloma Elementary School with a glowing twist! The “Let’s Glow Under the Sea” theme lit up the night as students wrapped up Read Across America Week, which featured dress-up days and library activities to promote a love of reading.
Read Across America Week was a hit across all our elementary schools, with special guest readers and events that sparked excitement about books and storytelling.
High School students also made a strong showing at the SCC Math Meet, bringing home several medals. Congratulations to these talented mathematicians!
Senior Band members celebrated their 6-12 journey with a special trip to the Mall of America. These students stuck with Band through the challenges of COVID, including remote learning and percussion practice. Their dedication has energized some of our most exciting sports moments and made a lasting impact through their performances.
Choir students had an unforgettable experience over spring break with a trip to New York City. Highlights included a performance at St. John the Divine Cathedral and visits to iconic landmarks such as the Empire State Building, 9/11 Memorial, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Chinatown, and Little Italy. They also visited The Today Show and attended a Broadway performance.
Westfield Forensics would like to thank all of the students and staff who helped make our District Tournament a success on March 17. Congratulations to Alyssa Rich, Shiloh Kilkelly, Hope Phillis, Katie Moody, and Carmen Hendee for advancing to the state tournament. Shout out to all team members for your hard work this year. You made your school, families, and coaches proud with your growth this year.
Middle School and High School students have continued their fundraising efforts for the Pennies for Patients program, benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Over the years, they have raised more than $40,000 in total.
Academic performance is always a top priority, and it's that time of year when students are assessed through state-wide tests. This includes the Forward Exam for elementary students, the Pre-ACT for 9th and 10th graders, and the ACT for 11th graders.
History students in Mrs. Alcorta’s classes will soon hear from a guest speaker from the Holocaust Resource Center, whose father survived the Holocaust — a powerful connection to their studies.
Sixth-grade science students will soon head to the EAA Museum in Oshkosh to learn about flight, thanks to the generous support of the Pioneer Parents group, which covered transportation costs.
Shout-out to Westfield High School’s ProStart Culinary Team — senior captain Malakai Johnson, juniors Ben Boley, and Skilar Johnson, and sophomore Jacob Heppe — for representing the District with skill and professionalism at the ProStart Culinary Competition at MATC in Madison. The team prepared a three-course meal using only two butane burners and even had the opportunity to meet Governor Tony Evers. Their hard work and dedication are already fueling excitement for upcoming FCCLA competitions in April — great job, team!
Winter sports have wrapped up — a special article highlighting the season's accomplishments is coming soon! Spring sports are off to a strong start, with the Track team already competing in three indoor meets and securing several top-10 finishes. Softball season is also underway — please stay tuned to the school website and social media for game updates and weather-related cancellations.
We also celebrate our student-athletes who earned Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State honors for their excellence on and off the court:
Kylie Barton
Halle Drew
Holly Goodwin
Maddyson Bitsky
Natalie Grant
Lacy Halverson
Haddie Showen
Owen Hendee
Sam Berruecos-Morales
Spring is off to a fantastic start in the School District of Westfield — let’s keep the momentum going!
