The start of a new year is a great time to focus on your social and emotional health. Below are some tips from Allina Health to help start out 2025 right!

  • Avoid getting discouraged by big resolutions. Start with small habits and intentions. Stay flexible, adapt your goals as needed.

  • Find a place to volunteer. It is a great way to give back and feel a sense of connection in our community.

  • Focus on self-care basics. Get enough sleep, stay hydrated, exercise, make healthy food choices and connect with others.

We are wishing you all a healthy and happy start to 2025!

Hi! I am Tammy Pitzen and I am lucky to be the secretary for the Counseling Department. I survived my first year of middle school and am now in my second year at MMS. I have previously worked in the district at Greenwood Elementary for several years. I love being back in the school environment and developing relationships with the students. I really missed that! In my hiatus of working in the district, I worked for the Pierce County Fair Office and St. Bridget Catholic Church.

I am a River Falls native and still live here - I love this community. My husband, Brad, and I have 2 sons, Zach and Sy. Zach lives successfully in his own apartment with the help of some incredible care workers. He attends the Bridge for Community Life, volunteers at the St. Croix Food Bank and enjoys bowling with his Special Olympics team. Sy recently graduated from UW-Stout with a degree in Graphic Communications. He will soon be starting his career at Great Northern Corporation.

In my free time I volunteer for the Free Clinic of Pierce and St. Croix Counties, jump on a stage with River Falls Community Theater and work part-time for Bakken-Young Funeral Home.
