Business Is Booming in Third Grade
Our third grade entrepreneurs shined at their Market Day! They kicked off a social studies unit on Economics with a visit to the World of Coca-Cola, where they learned about branding, business planning, and advertising. Afterwards, they spent weeks learning about goods and services, supply and demand, and making smart financial choices. They wrapped up the unit by creating their own business plan, complete with a good or service to sell, pricing, a slogan or logo, and a sign to advertise their business.
On Market Day, their creativity and skills were on full display. Students' business plans came to life with booths that included handmade slime, wooden Christmas ornaments, lemonade and soda stands, bracelets, and much more! Lower school and high school students and teachers were invited to shop the market using Dawg Dollars, giving third graders the satisfaction of earning "income" as a result of their hard work.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our students. Market Day was a huge hit!
Cracking the Case
Students in our Forensic Science class recently stepped into the role of crime scene investigators during a fingerprint analysis lab. The mystery? Someone stole the teacher’s Coca-Cola from the refrigerator! Using real forensic techniques, students dusted for and lifted latent fingerprints from soda cans collected at the “crime scene.” Next, they examined the prints with magnifying glasses and compared them to previously completed FBI 10-print fingerprint cards to identify the culprit. Through this hands-on investigation, students learned how fingerprint evidence is collected, analyzed, and used to solve crimes - just like real forensic scientists.

Kindergarten Artists Dive Into Clay
Artists in kindergarten had their first introduction to the world of clay! They learned about creating texture, slabs, and coils, and putting all of those techniques together to create a clay turtle. Artists used their shoe to give their turtle shell a texture, rolled coils for the head, tail, and legs, and combined all of the pieces together using the "score and slip" method! These sea turtles and much more will be on display at the Grandparent's Day Under the Sea art show!
Young Person's Concert
Our fifth-grade Bullpup Band and sixth-grade Jr. Bulldog Band presented the Annual Young Person's Concert before a crowd of students, faculty and families. Congratulations to these fantastic young musicians on their outstanding performances!
