What Are We Learning This Week?
Math- Unit 1: Place Value Concepts and Strategies Within 1,200
At the end of this unit, students will understandā¦
Number sense develops through real-life experiences.
The same value can be represented in multiple ways.
The language of mathematics allows us to communicate in a precise and efficient manner about how place value is used to analyze numerical relationships.
The value of a number is quantified by the placement of its digits.
There can be different strategies to solve a problem, but some are more effective and efficient than others.
The context of a problem determines the reasonableness of the solution.
ELAR- Unit 1: Launching the Readerās & Writerās Workshop
At the end of this unit, students will understandā¦
Reading is a process of making meaning and connections.
Writing is a process that involves thinking and planning.
Reading and writing are reciprocal processes.
Science- Unit 1: Physical Properties of Matter
At the end of this unit, students will understandā¦
The observable properties of materials determine how they can be classified and used.
Physical changes like cutting, folding, or melting can alter the properties of an object, but the material itself stays the same.
Materials can be combined or taken apart to create new objects with different purposes.
Social Studies- Unit 1 Citizenship
At the end of this unit, students will understand...
Good citizens are responsible for their own actions and contribute to the greater good.
A community is shaped by the actions of its citizens.
Contributions to the community can have a lasting effect on the individual and the community.
