ALL THINGS ASSESSMENTS & TESTING:
Upcoming Testing Information
The ACT Non-College Reportable (NCR) assessment is being offered for FREE at Pasco eSchool on October 22 & 23rd for full-time seniors. If they still need to fulfill their graduation requirement for the English Language Arts (ELA) and/or Algebra 1 EOC, they need to register:
- Registration Deadline: Applications must be submitted by September 25th. Please visit https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/hV0yqwGTsu to register your student.
- The ACT NCR is a standardized test that assesses similar content and skills as the standard ACT, but scores will not be reported to colleges or universities.
- The exam covers three subject areas: English, Reading, and Math. Students will only need to sit for the sections needed to meet their testing graduation requirement.
- The test does not have an essay writing component.
- Because test scores are not reportable to colleges or universities, students are given extra time to complete each section.
- Practice Materials: The ACT website offers free practice tests and resources to help students prepare for the exam: https://www.act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/Preparing-for-the-ACT.pdf
- Test Location: Pasco eSchool @ 15144 Shady Hills Rd. • Spring Hill, FL 34610
- Test Time: Check-in at 9 AM
AP Exam Information
Many of our students take Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Visit the link below for additional AP exam information: https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/ap-exams-overview
Taking AP courses and exams in high school could give you an advantage in college by letting you:
- Earn College Credit and Placement: Your AP score could earn you college credits before you even set foot on campus. In fact, most AP students who enroll in four-year colleges start school with some credit.
- Save Money and Time: Earning credit or placement can open up time on your schedule or even let you graduate early.
- Stand Out to Colleges: “AP” on your high school transcript shows colleges you're motivated to succeed, and taking the exam demonstrates your commitment to tackle and complete college-level work.
- Keep Your Options Open: Earning college credit with AP can give you the flexibility to change majors, pursue a second degree, study abroad, or seek internships.
ACT & SAT Information
Many colleges require scores from the SAT or ACT tests as a part of the admissions process. Your SAT/ACT scores are a key component of your college applications.
The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The SAT is a multiple-choice, computer-based test created and administered by the College Board. The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student's readiness for college and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.
The ACT® Test...
- Is accepted by all US colleges and universities
- Lets you use your calculator for the whole math test
- Can increase your chances of earning new or better scholarships
- Includes an educational and career planning component
- Provides four free score reports as well as an ACT Superscore *
- Helps you show your readiness with a STEM score
Students can also register for the SAT or ACT at any point on their own:

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. The ASVAB subtests are designed to measure aptitudes in four domains: Verbal, Math, Science and Technical, and Spatial. The ASVAB is offered to high school and post-secondary students as part of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program. The program provides tools to help students learn more about career exploration and planning in both the civilian and military worlds of work.

Florida's 2 + 2 Program
The cost of a bachelor’s degree from a state university is more affordable than you think. Florida’s 2 +2 Program creates a seamless path for students with an associate’s degree to enter a state university.
To be eligible for Florida’s 2 + 2 Program, students must first earn an associate’s degree at a state college. Students who earn an associate’s degree at a state college are automatically guaranteed admission to a state university.
Under the program, students complete their general education courses in college, including core courses that are required for every graduate from a state college or university. Students are also required to declare their intended major after earning 30 hours of course credit, which is generally after their freshman year. Declaring a major helps students take the right courses to ensure they are prepared to pursue their bachelor’s degree when they enter a university.
Because state colleges are both accessible and affordable, students can save money while staying on time and on track to earning a bachelor’s degree. State colleges have an “open door” admissions policy which allows anyone with a high school diploma to enroll. Tuition at state colleges is also about two-thirds the cost of tuition at universities.
Some students find that more state community colleges are offering bachelor's degree programs, and they are completing all 4 years at their community college. This saves money and depending on their career path, may not make a difference. Teachers for instance, make the same salary regardless if they graduated from Harvard or PHSC. Harvard obviously costs more and is more prestigious, but the career choice of education is not going to get a teacher a higher salary. That's why making decisions around your career choice first can help narrow down where you want to attend.
