Superintendent's Message
Hello LPOSD Families,
As August arrives and back-to-school preparations begin, we want to ensure every family has the resources and information needed for a smooth and successful start to the year. This special Back to School edition of The Loop is designed to help you feel informed and supported as we head into the new school year.
Later this month, our LPOSD staff is excited to welcome students and families back during our annual Open House Nights – all schools scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 27, so there is only one date to mark on the calendar! These gatherings offer a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, explore learning spaces, learn more about the curriculum, and connect with both new and familiar faces in your school community. We hope you’ll join us and actively participate in launching a strong start to the year.
In just a few short weeks, we’ll be ready to welcome your children back into our classrooms. Enjoy the last part of summer fun before you begin to rebuild the school routines for your children. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for improvement as we prepare for the 2025-26 school year, bwm
Dr. Becky W Meyer, Superintendent
To help our youngest learners transition, LPOSD uses a "soft start"
- During the first two days (September 2-3), we will gently ease students into their new routines.
- Expect school offices to contact you to set individual time slots for your child to visit their new classroom for initial screening assessments.
- Our goal is to a make the first week of kindergarten smooth and comfortable for every child.

Numerica Credit Union: Promoting Middle School Literacy
Numerica Credit Union launched a new literacy initiative — called Read to Ski — for all LPOSD 7th and 8th graders, offering a unique reward: a free one-day lift pass to Schweitzer during the 2025–26 ski season. Here's how it works:
- Read and log 10+ hours by Thursday, Nov. 21.
- Submit your completed log to your teacher.
