Dear Austin Public Schools Community,

Thank you to everyone who participated in the bond referendum election. Voters rejected both questions of the $66.7 million plan.

The proposed investments would have addressed critical safety, accessibility, and infrastructure needs across our aging school buildings. Although the outcome is not what we hoped for, we respect the residents' decision and remain committed to addressing our facilities’ needs.

Without additional funding, our ability to make major facility upgrades is limited. We will continue to prioritize the most urgent needs using our existing long-term maintenance resources. However, challenges such as aging mechanical systems and ongoing accessibility concerns will require broader investment to address fully.

In the months ahead, the school board will evaluate next steps, including the possibility of going to voters again. We’ll keep you informed throughout that process and continue seeking your feedback.

Please reach out to me directly with any questions. Thank you for your commitment to our students and schools.

Sincerely,

Dr. Joey Page, Superintendent
