Midterms and Semester Finals: January 12–15

Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes even if they do not have a midterm or final during that class period.
Junior Open Campus - Starts January 20
Junior Open Campus (JOC) will begin on Tuesday, January 20. Information regarding eligibility and participation expectations has been shared with students and parents via email.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Lingle, 11th Grade Assistant Principal, at tlingle@wssd.k12.pa.us
Course Selection Night - January 21
Course Selection Night will be held on January 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. During this large-group session, families will learn about the scheduling process, the transition to a 7-period schedule, and other important planning information.
Following the presentation, parents and students are invited to our Course Fair. Similar to a college fair, attendees can meet with representatives from various departments (Math, Science, Art, and more) to learn about the courses they offer.
Two breakout sessions will be held at 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the library. During these sessions:
-
Mr. Mark Miller, Career Counselor, will discuss internships, pre-apprenticeships, and co-op opportunities.
-
Mrs. Stacy Thorpe, Guidance Department Head, will provide information about college-in-the-high-school courses.
We hope to see both parents and students at our newly remodeled Course Selection Night!
A Message from the New Athletic Director
My name is Amy Snyder, and I am truly honored to introduce myself as the new Athletic Director at Cedar Cliff High School. Having been part of the West Shore School District for 20 years teaching special education at Newberry Elementary and Red Land High School. I am eager to start a new chapter in my career and look forward to the opportunity to serve the remarkable Cedar Cliff Community.
I believe that athletics is so much more than games and competitions. They are opportunities for students to develop confidence, resilience, leadership, teamwork and learn life lessons that will develop them for the future. Athletics is a large part of my life as well. I was a two-sport varsity athlete at Central Dauphin high school and my two daughters are both athletes. With that said, I am committed to supporting each student-athlete as they grow, learn, and thrive before, during, and after each and every competition. My goal is to foster a positive, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every student feels encouraged to pursue their goals and reach their full
potential.
I also recognize the vital role families and the community play in shaping our students’ experiences. I am eager to build strong partnerships, listen to your insights, and celebrate the accomplishments of our students together. Your support, feedback, and engagement are essential as we work to provide exceptional opportunities for all athletes.
Thank you for welcoming me into this role. I am proud to serve Cedar Cliff High School, and I look forward to getting to know our students, families, and the broader community as we continue the proud tradition of Colt athletics.
Warm regards,
Amy Snyder
Athletic Director
Prom Boutique Dress Donations Needed
Cedar Cliff is now accepting donations of formal gowns for our annual Prom Boutique. If you have a formal dress tucked away that you’re ready to part with, we would love to give it a second chance to shine.
While prom is a special and memorable night, it can also be expensive for some students. Your donation helps ensure that all students have the opportunity to enjoy this milestone event.
Donations may be dropped off at the Cedar Cliff front office. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Crager in the Counseling Office.
Thank you for helping make prom magical for everyone!
Unified Bocce & Friends Forever are Taking the Polar Plunge
On February 27, our Unified Bocce and Friends Forever students will be participating in the Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics. Their goal is to raise $2,000, and every donation helps make a difference.
Please consider donating to help our students reach their goal and support this amazing cause!
CC SPOTLIGHT
Health Students Bring Learning to Life with Food Truck Project
Students in Health class put their learning into action this semester through our Food Truck Project. In this hands-on assignment, students design their own 3-D food truck while applying key concepts such as nutrition, menu planning, and marketing.
The project encourages creativity and real-world thinking as students make healthy choices, analyze ingredients, and explore how food impacts overall wellness. It’s been exciting to see students bring their unique ideas to life—and there may even be plans to turn this project into a contest next semester.
Cedar Cliff Ski Club Hits the Slopes
The Cedar Cliff Ski Club took its first trip to the mountain on January 7, kicking off another exciting season on the slopes. We are part of the larger WSSD Ski Club, which has expanded this year to include five participating schools—and we can now fill an entire bus, with the possibility of needing a second very soon!
Participating schools include Allen Middle School, New Cumberland Middle School, Crossroads Middle School, Red Land High School, and Cedar Cliff High School. The Slope Days program runs in collaboration with Vail and Round Top Mountain Resort, giving students an incredible opportunity to ski and snowboard throughout the season.
While enrollment for this year is closed, students interested in joining next year can visit the Round Top website or see Mr. Burnham for more information. We’d love to welcome even more students—it's a BIG mountain, so let’s fill it up together!
DETAILS Monthly Raffle Rewards
As part of our DETAILS positive behavior program, students can use their DETAILS tickets to enter a monthly raffle. Each month, a school department or administrator puts together four themed baskets filled with fun items and treats for students to win.
This month, the Math Department created a great collection of goodies to reward students who have demonstrated the DETAILS behaviors. We love seeing students recognized for making positive choices!
Way to Go Coach Weyant!
Congratulations to Coach Scott Weyant on earning his 200th win as the Cedar Cliff Girls’ Basketball head coach! He reached this impressive milestone on December 5, when the Lady Colts defeated Hempfield.
We are proud to celebrate Coach Weyant’s dedication, leadership, and continued success with our girls’ basketball program.
