Greetings, Warrior Families!

Triumph week has been a success! Thank you to everyone who attended our first annual Community Pep Rally on Wednesday evening. It was great to see and visit with a number of you. I hope you see the passion and commitment our amazing staff and students have shown. We look forward to continuing to build on these traditions through the years.

This next week, we observe the Comal County Fair; therefore, the school week is only four days long. Growing up in the New Braunfels community, I always looked forward to this time of year as it brought many wonderful memories and experiences. I look forward to seeing all of our students participating in the many festivities of week.

September is National Self-Care Awareness Month, and during this month we encourage each of you to take some time to reflect on what you do daily that makes you feel happy and healthy. We want each of you to take some time to prioritize your physical and mental health. To recognize Self-Care, the counselors held a booth at all three lunches this past Thursday. Students reflected on ways they care for themselves and made self-care bags to take home as reminders.

September is also National Suicide Prevention Month. To raise awareness regarding this important issue, Pieper counselors will have a table at all three lunches next Wednesday, September 27th . Suicide is the second leading cause of death among youths ages 10-24 and rates for this age group have increased 52.2% between the years 2000-2021. We want to encourage students to #betheone to help those around them. If you or someone you know is struggling, please call or text the National Suicide and Crisis Hotline at 988.

Food Pantry

We wanted to update you that a School Pantry Program will be coming to PHS for students that need weekly food assistance. If you would like more information regarding the program, please contact your student's counselor.

The counselors started Senior meetings with all Pieper 12th graders this week. Counselors will be reviewing credits, current classes, and plans after high school. Please reach out to your student's counselor if you have questions regarding your Senior student and planning for their post-secondary goals.

Reminder: PSAT 8/9 (9th graders) will be given on 10/4/23 and PSAT/NMSQT (10th and 11th graders) will be given on 10/11/23. These tests will be completely digital with embedded calculators, but students may bring their own approved calculator if they choose. Approved calculators can be found at: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt/whats-on-the-test/math/calculator-use. We will be able to provide TI-Inspire calculators to 11th graders only.

The test is designed to be completed in 2 hours and 14 minutes so students will be able to go to lunch at normal times. However, if your student is receiving an accommodation of time and one-half or double time, they will be testing through lunch. Amy Bachmeyer will be sending an email to these parents giving them the opportunity to order a sack lunch to be delivered to the testing room and eaten during a break or after the test.

Please make sure your student gets a good night's sleep, eats breakfast, is on time for school and do not plan to sign them out too early. Questions can be sent to amy.bachmeyer@comalisd.org.
