You’ll also find a helpful guide to navigating the course selection process, ensuring your child is set up for a successful start in secondary school.

January 21-24: Middle school counselor visits 5th graders to present course selection information

January 23 and 24: Band & orchestra instrument fitting with 5th graders at RHE, WCHE and SHE

January 28: 5th grade students visit LTMS for the Fine Arts Showcase

January 29: Parent meeting for course selection information at LTMS w/principal and counselors

February 3-7:

• Window for rising 6th graders to enter course selections into Skyward w/ counselors at school
• Students will bring completed course selection sheets to school

January 21: Counselor and principal visit RHE and WCHE 5th graders
January 24: Counselor and principal visit SHE 5th graders

• LTMS counselor and principal present to all 5th graders about the course selection process, options, and middle school life in general.
• Counselor and principal will be able to answer questions from 5th grade students.
• The 5th grade teachers will provide course selection sheets during the LTMS counselor visit

• January 23: Band & orchestra instrument testing at SHE
• January 24: Band & orchestra instrument testing at RHE and WCHE
• LTMS Band and Orchestra directors will visit our feeder elementaries for instrument fittings.
• The purpose of these fittings is to give students hands-on experience with various instruments in order to make an informed decision about their elective choices.
• All 5th graders will explore different instruments, but this does not automatically place them into band or orchestra. When selecting courses, they will get to choose between band, orchestra, choir, theatre, and art for their required Fine Arts elective.

Date: January 28

Time: 9-11am

Location: LTMS (students will be bused over to LTMS)

• 5th grade students visit LTMS during the school day and experience each of the Fine Arts electives they can choose from.
• One of the rotations will be by Principal Hudson giving students an overview of middle school.
• This is a student-only event.

Date: January 29

Time: 5:30-6:15pm

Location: LTMS Cafeteria

• Principal Hudson and counselors will present all important information for rising 6th grade course selections
• You will learn about middle school opportunities, an overview of school logistics, how to select courses, and how to make informed decisions on what courses are best for your student.

February 3-7: Window to Enter Course Selections in Skyward

• Students will enter their course selections with their teacher and/or counselor at school.
• Students will not enter course selections at home with their parents on Skyward.
