Week of May 4th 🌷🌸
Good Morning Killam Families,
Happy May! It’s hard to believe we have less than 30 days of school left. As we head into the final stretch, we’re working hard to balance meaningful learning with the many exciting events planned. Please take a few moments each week to review the upcoming calendar so you don’t miss a beat!
A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for making last week’s Teacher Appreciation Week so special. We are especially grateful to Ellen Brogan for organizing the entire week of celebrations, including a delicious staff luncheon and relaxing chair massages. Our staff felt truly appreciated!
This week, students in Grade 3 will take the MCAS on Monday and Tuesday, and Grade 5 will test on Wednesday and Thursday. Please help your child come to school on time, well-rested, and with a healthy snack and water bottle. Kindly avoid sending candy.
We’ll wrap up the week on a high note with our Readathon Silly String Celebration this Friday! All students will get the chance to silly string an adult of their choice (based on who is volunteering)—it’s going to be a blast!
Thank you for your continued partnership,
Lindsey Fulton, Principal

SEPAC Updates
To learn more about Reading SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council), please visit our website: Reading SEPAC Website
Should you wish to receive our monthly newsletter, please send an email to SEPACReading@gmail.com
Please note that Reading SEPAC IS OPEN TO ALL parents/caregivers and not only families who have a child with special needs as we offer various opportunities to connect with other families and provide learning experiences.
Please fill out this brief, anonymous survey to help your SEPAC Board to plan for the 2025-2026 school year. It should only take a few minutes.
This school year we brought speakers to the Reading community on important topics such as literacy success, executive functioning, social emotional learning, school avoidance, the IEP and the special education budget based in large part on what parents highlighted in the annual survey, so it’s very important to make sure your voice is heard.
In addition, your voice helps to steer the conversation between our school leadership and the Reading SEPAC board in our scheduled monthly meetings during the school year. We also want to hear from you on how we are doing in meeting our community’s needs and what more we can do to improve Reading SEPAC.
The survey results will be discussed at the next Reading SEPAC Business meeting on May 14th at 7PM.
Reading SEPAC Business meeting (May 14th at 7PM - Virtually):
Agenda:
Multilingual Learners Presentation: Program overview, information about language development versus disability, ML family needs in the IEP process
Literacy Updates - The recording of the literacy presentation is available on the SEPAC website - under past presentations and the Q&A can be found here.
