As a reminder, today is an early release day at 1:15 p.m. Lunch was served at school.

There will be no school on Monday in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This is a time to honor and recognize the original peoples of this land, the Native American and Indigenous communities who have lived here for thousands of years and who continue to contribute to our society today. It is a day to acknowledge their history, culture, traditions, and resilience.

At Warren School, we observe Indigenous Peoples’ Day because it is important for children to learn that history includes many voices and perspectives. It also gives us the opportunity to build understanding and appreciation for the diversity that makes our community stronger.

If your child was absent on picture day or you were not satisfied with their photo, Picture Retake Day will be held on Friday, November 7th.

I’m also excited to share that the Worcester Railers have invited our 2nd grade students to sing the National Anthem during Ashland Town Takeover Night at the Railers game!

All participating students will also have the opportunity to high-five the players before the game.

To participate, families will need to provide transportation and purchase tickets for both children and adults attending. Please use the QR code below to purchase tickets.

If your child will be participating, please complete the form linked below to let Mrs. Noel and Mr. Ryan know that your family will be attending the game to sing.

Have a great long weekend,

Pete

Hi Families!

I’m Kathy Ferrecchia, the Literacy Coach at Warren! Each month, I’ll share a spotlight on what our K–2 learners are doing in reading and writing, so you can join in the excitement from home.

Our K–2 students are beginning the year by building strong foundations in reading and writing. Kindergarteners are working on letter recognition, sounds, nursery rhymes and illustrations. First graders are focusing on short vowel words and developing confidence in blending and decoding. Second graders are practicing fluency, comprehension, and writing complete, detailed sentences. These early skills will support continued growth throughout the year.

Feel free to contact me: kferrecchia@ashland.k12.ma.us

💡 At-Home Ideas:

  • Read aloud together every night and let your child retell the story in their own words.

  • Practice noticing letters and sounds on signs, menus, or grocery items.

  • Encourage your child to write a short note, list, or label something at home.

Warren School's Social Emotional Learning Update:

Hello Families,

This month we are learning about BELONGING.

We have defined BELONING as: feeling like you are part of a group where you are accepted for who you are.

Here are some things you can do to help your child develop a sense of belonging:

  • Create opportunities where your child can connect with others outside of school.
  • Practice open communication, create a safe environment for them to share their feelings.
  • Check out this PBS article.
  • Talk about all the different groups you and your family belong to (teams, clubs, church, work/school…).
  • Go to the library and check out some of the books listed below.

Books about BELONING:

  • The Day You Begin by Jaqueline Woodson
  • Stellaluna by Janell Cannon
  • I am Human by Susan Verde
  • Mina Belongs Here by Sandy Lee
  • All are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold
  • The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi
