Center Community Chat #17
December 12, 2025
Dear Center Community,
Thank you to our CSPTO and many family members who came to help their children shop at the Center School Gift Room. This PTO sponsored activities helps provide valuable enrichment to all Center students.
Keeping Restrooms Clean at Center
This week we continued our PRIDE challenge. Students in Wings A & B are urged to show their PRIDE in the restrooms, ensuring they "GO, FLUSH, WASH, and LEAVE" while also making sure trash goes in the can and doors remain unlocked. Random checks will continue to occur throughout the day and a paw prints will be posted to the door each time there is evidence of students showing their PRIDE. B wing has won the first challenge & we will continue this to help support bathroom etiquette!
Student Tardiness: Center Staff Cares About Students!
A reminder that student arrival ends at 9:00 AM. Please plan to pull into the driveway by 9:00, not at 9:00. If you arrive after 9:00, staff are no longer outside to assist with drop-off, and you will need to park and walk your child into the building to sign them in. Please remember that parking in the fire lane is not permitted.
We understand that occasional tardiness happens. However, we’ve seen an increase in students arriving right at or after 9:00, which impacts staff coverage, morning routines, and valuable learning time.
Thank you for your help in keeping arrival safe and on schedule.
Dressing Students for the Weather
With colder weather approaching, please ensure students are dressed appropriately for the weather! We do allow students to play in the snow, but they need snow pants, boots and hats. Also consider labeling your child's clothing, our lost and found is continuing to grow.
Wishing Ms. Devi Well on her Transfer to Byam:
Center School would like to wish Sushma Devi. She has accepted a new paraeducator role at Byam & will transfer on Monday. Sushma served as a recess aide, and now we are on the lookout for a replacement for her position. Interested candidates will find the link below.
Warm Regards,
Donna & Jenn

Celebrating a Birthday by Reading Aloud
From Nurse Felzani:
Dear Caregivers of Students with Nut Allergies,
The Food Services Department has informed us that Monday, December 15th, is National Cupcake Day, and a chocolate cupcake will be offered as part of the lunch menu. While the cupcake does not contain nuts as an ingredient, it is produced on shared equipment that also processes peanuts and tree nuts.
To ensure the safety of our students with nut allergies, an alternate dessert option - a double chocolate chip muffin (GF)—will be available.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership in keeping all students safe.
We will be holding state mandated screenings for hearing and vision at Center School on December 15th, 16th & 17th. BMI measurement with height and weight will also be recorded for some students this school year.
Grade level screenings include:
Kindergarten: hearing, vision/stereopsis (if not already submitted for enrollment)
1st grade: hearing, vision/stereopsis, BMI
2nd grade: hearing, vision/stereopsis
3rd grade: hearing, vision/stereopsis
4th grade: distance vision, BMI
If you would prefer your student not participate in these screenings, please notify the nurse in writing (phone messages are not accepted) by Wednesday, December 10th in order to be removed from the screening list.
Please contact Nurse Felzani if you have any questions.

CPS School Calendar
Please find the CPS academic calendar below.
Please note that parents/adults are not allowed to escort their child(ren) to their classroom on school days. Staff members will be in the main lobby to assist all students and guide them to their classrooms. We appreciate your assistance with this.
Food Service Information
This year Massachusetts is offering all school lunch and breakfast at no charge to students. This does not automatically make families eligible for any other benefits. We strongly encourage families that feel they are eligible for transportation or extended day reduced tuition to fill out the online free and reduced meal application. The links can be found below. https://cpsnutrition.com/index.php?sid=1478035692058&page=lunchapps
If you do qualify for benefits you most likely will be eligible for SNAP benefits. https://www.mass.gov/snap-benefits-formerly-food-stamps
Some examples of SNAP benefits are discounts on gas, electric utilities and internet services.
Please visit our school nutrition website at https://cpsnutrition.com/index.php?sid=1478035692058 for more information about our program and also a link to the free and reduced lunch application.

Bus Safety:
