Happy Friday, Riverside Families!

I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful fall season! As we head into another week at Riverside, I want to share some important information about an upcoming schoolwide safety drill so you know what to expect and can help us prepare our students.

Next Thursday, November 5, Riverside Elementary will participate in a schoolwide safety drill beginning at 9:30 AM. During this drill, our entire school team will practice evacuating and walking off campus. The drill is expected to last approximately one hour.

Important information for families: During the drill, our front door and office phones will be unavailable. If your child needs to be excused during this time, please call the office before 9:00 AM, as we will not be able to release students once the drill has begun.

Lakeview School District has established procedures for a variety of safety situations. Drills like this help us:

• Review our emergency response and evacuation plans.

• Practice how staff and students can support emergency personnel.

• Ensure everyone understands their role in an emergency.

You may notice police or emergency vehicles near the building during the drill.

At Riverside, we want to keep our students safe while being mindful of their ages and developmental understanding. With our youngest learners, we use language that helps them understand the importance of practicing without creating unnecessary fear. For example, students may have heard that we’re practicing our plan in case a family of skunks gets loose in the building! Older students may discuss other possible scenarios, such as a gas leak or water shut-off, but the “skunk story” helps our youngest learners understand why we practice.

If you talk with your child about the drill at home, feel free to use the same language we’re using at school.

We also recognize that every child is different. If you have concerns about your child’s participation, please reach out to me so we can develop a plan together.

Stay Connected with Riverside Elementary

Our Facebook page is an additional resource for important school information, updates, reminders, and celebrations! We welcome all of our Riverside families to join the Riverside Elementary Facebook page and stay connected with everything happening at our school.

At Riverside, we strive to communicate openly with our families and build a strong school community. Together, we can create a positive foundation where our students, families, and staff feel connected, supported, and valued.

We are so thankful to have you as part of our Riverside family!!

Children are welcome to enter the building each day at 8:00 a.m. to enjoy breakfast and begin their day in a calm, structured environment, ready for learning.

Please note that all students who arrive between 8:00 and 8:20 a.m. will remain in the cafeteria and enjoy breakfast during this time. Students will not be permitted to go to their lockers or access other areas of the building until breakfast time has ended.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us create a calm and successful start to each school day!

We have some attendance information that we would like to bring to your attention:

• If your student will be absent, please call the absence line @ 565-4701 and leave a detailed message.
• If your student is late for school or needs to leave early, please make sure that you sign your student in or out on our computer.
• If your student has been absent and has a doctor's note, please bring that into the office, as soon as possible.
• If your student is going to be absent for any length of time, please come into the office and fill out an extended absence form.

Miss Hubbart’s class practices yoga daily to help students stay calm, focused, and ready to learn! 💜 These mindful moments help our kiddos build healthy habits, practice self-regulation, and prepare their minds and bodies for a successful day of learning. Way to go, Miss Hubbart’s class! 🌟

From magnets and mugs to tote bags and more, there are so many fun products to choose from! With many items priced under $15, it’s a great opportunity to create meaningful keepsakes and even get a head start on holiday shopping! 🎁
