A Message From Mrs. O'Brien
Dear Lincoln Early Learning Center Families,
As we move further into January, here’s a snapshot of what’s happening in our preschool and a few important reminders:
-
❄️ Outdoor Gross Motor Play
-
We were able to get outside for gross motor play on Tuesday, just before the snow returned on Wednesday.
-
Our preschoolers loved the chance to move, run, and enjoy the fresh air!
-
-
📅 No School – Monday
-
There will be no school on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
-
-
⭐ Attendance Matters
-
Regular attendance helps support your child’s success, beginning in preschool.
-
Being at school consistently helps children:
-
Build strong early learning skills
-
Gain confidence in daily routines
-
Strengthen friendships and social skills
-
Fully participate in classroom learning and play
-
-
We understand winter weather and illness can impact attendance, and we appreciate your efforts to have your child at school whenever possible.
-
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We appreciate all you do to help make our Lincoln a positive and engaging place for learning!
Warm regards,
Katie O’Brien
Principal, Lincoln Early Learning Center

A Note from the Health Office
Absences
If your child will be absent from school because of illness, doctors’ appointments or vacation, please contact us at Lincoln at 847-949-2720. Please notify the school office by 9:30 a.m. the day of the absence to leave a recorded message regarding your child's absence. Keeping track of all the students on a daily basis is a huge task and we greatly appreciate your prompt attention.
Medical Forms
Annual Physical Examinations are required within the first 30 days of entering preschool. All forms can be emailed, faxed, or brought in with your student. If we do not receive your child’s physical, your child will be excluded from school and cannot return to school until submitted. Per IL State Law we must have a child’s physical by October 15 or within 30 days of starting preschool.
Illness and Injuries
Please remember that any child with a fever should stay home until they have been fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication, for at least 24 hours.
Students should also remain home if they are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea. Students may NOT return to school for at least 24 hours after the last episode.
The health office must have current telephone numbers for parents and designated emergency contact persons. Please select your emergency contacts carefully. This person should be familiar with your child, your family routine, and be available to transport your child home if necessary.
Please pre-plan for a telephone call from the health office. If your child becomes ill at school, you are responsible for picking up your child within 30 minutes of the call.
Lake County is currently experiencing increasing flu activity. Please see some important information from the Lake County Health Department in English and Spanish regarding influenza.
Medications
All medications, feeding, and treatment supplies are to be supplied by the parent per school policy.
Doctor’s orders for medications, feedings, and treatments are required at the beginning of each school year. The school nurse will not accept or administer any medications (including over the counter medications) or perform nursing services or treatments without a doctor’s order.
Any questions related to the above health office guidelines should be directed to the health office staff.

Fremont School District Summer School is underway! Registration is now open for Summer Adventures in Learning classes. See this catalog of class options and then register for Summer Adventures in Learning here. Registration closes on April 10th. Alana Davidov, the Summer School Principal, will be in contact if a chosen class is closing to ensure your child can join another class. All final class confirmations will be sent in May. Please email Alana Davidov at fremontsummer@fsd79.org with any questions.
There are some options for incoming Kindergarteners to join! There is bus transportation available to add, however, during Week 3, students will need to be picked up between 10:25 and 10:40 at the Elementary School because there is only a morning session class available.
Acceleration Procedures
Our goal in FSD79 is to challenge every student appropriately. Guidelines for course recommendations and acceleration procedures are outlined on our District website. These guidelines are meant to inform our decisions on course and grade level placements.
Please reach out to your child’s teacher or principal if you have questions about their current or future educational programming. Any request for grade level or subject acceleration for the 2026-2027 school year needs to be submitted to your child’s current principal before April 1, 2026.
