SCC Top Ten Banquet SCC Top Ten Banquet

Students from across the South Central Conference were honored at our recent "SCC Top Ten Banquet." Westfield High School was in charge of hosting the event this year, and it was a wonderful night of celebration. The top sixty students from across the conference were recognized with a banquet, guest speaker, and awards presentation.

Mrs. Mades and the National Honor Society seniors spent the day decorating for the event, turning our varsity gym into a beautiful venue. This year's guest speaker was Emily (Clay) Secor, a 2012 graduate of Westfield and former top ten student. Emily is a professional operatic singer who earned her undergraduate degree from Luther College and her Master's Degree from the University of Northern Iowa.

Westfield's Class of 2025 Top Ten include:

  • Haile Barrera
  • Madyson Bitsky
  • Landan Escoto
  • Natalie Grant
  • Chloe Kerschner
  • Robbie Moody
  • Hunter Peschel

Honor Roll Ice Cream Social Honor Roll Ice Cream Social

Students in grades 6-12 who earned a spot on one of the academic honor rolls enjoyed one of their favorite quarterly traditions...the ice cream social.

Every quarter, students are treated to an ice cream social if they earned academic honors. Teachers pre-scooped over 300 bowls of ice cream, and students were able to top their treat with chocolate, caramel, strawberries, Oreos, cookie crumbles, Butterfinger, and a variety of other toppings. Thank you to the Pioneer Parents PTO group for funding the toppings for our school!

During the ice cream social, high school students who made the high honor roll, and who had no disciplinary infractions during the previous quarter, earn their coveted "Honors Pass." The Honors Pass allows students access to the Honors Lounge during lunch or study hall. In the Honors Lounge, students are able to play air hockey, foosball, video games, Golden Tee, and a number of fun activities.

We are proud that such a high percentage of our students are able to enjoy this treat by working hard and prioritizing their learning.

Academic Awards Night Academic Awards Night

The 10th Annual “Academic Awards Night” ceremony takes place on Wednesday, May 7th in the Varsity Gym. On this night, we celebrate academic accomplishments by our students, and our school’s commitment to academic excellence.

Throughout the evening, we award “Academic Letters & Bars” to eligible students, distribute “Department Awards” to one student from each academic department, and award scholarships to members of the senior class. Over $100,000 worth of scholarships will be awarded throughout the evening to help our graduating seniors get a head start on their post-secondary education. We are grateful to our community partners for helping our students afford their post-secondary educational opportunities.

Pioneers Dominate the ACT! Pioneers Dominate the ACT!

ACT scores are in, and Westfield High School students once again showed amazing growth. Every year, juniors go through our intensive ACT Prep program during the 11-week period leading up to the exam. Our students enter the exam room highly prepared and ready to do their best.

Compared to predicted scores, Westfield juniors improved their scores by 249 total composite points, which equated to a 3.224 average composite point increase! Several students even improved their score by over ten points!

Three of our students, Colvin Adams, Sergio Berruecos-Morales, and Micah Coenen, joined the prestigious "30+ Club." These students earned composite scores of 30 or above (out of a total 36). Colvin, Sergio, and Micah will have their names added to our 30+ Club Board that celebrates Westfield students who have earned that honor over the years. Individual banners will also be made, which will hang in the cafeteria to celebrate their incredible accomplishments.

This year's graduation ceremony for the class of 2025 takes place on Saturday, May 31st at 1:00 PM in the Westfield High School/Middle School Varsity Gym. Doors open at 12:30 PM and seating is first come first served. Tickets are not required for admission.

Summer School Information Summer School Information

We are once again offering Summer School opportunities for students who need to recover deficient credits.

Summer School begins June 9th and runs through June 27th. Class hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 PM each day. Summer School will once again be held at Westfield Elementary School this year.

Attendance Requirements

  • Students must be present and on time every day of class for all three weeks in order to earn ½ credit (equivalent to what they would have earned during a semester in that class).

  • Any student that misses class will be dropped from the course unless a written doctor’s excuse is provided the very next day.

  • Students that complete the coursework for the class they failed must continue to attend for the entire three weeks in order to receive the semester credit.

  • Students are only allowed one day of missed class due to a doctor’s note.

  • Please do not plan any appointment, activity, or vacation that interferes with your child’s ability to attend every day and hour of class.

Transportation

Bus transportation is provided from the various locations in our district for all summer school students, but you must make sure your child gets to the designated pick-up location in time to catch the bus. If you cannot get your child to a bus stop you must make transportation arrangements for your child to attend summer school.

The bus schedule is as follows:

  • Neshkoro Elementary: 7:10 AM pickup; 1:00 PM drop off
  • Coloma & Oxford Elementary: 7:25 AM pickup; 12:45 PM drop off

Also offered again this year are a free breakfast and lunch for all summer school students. Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM, and lunch is served from 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM.
