Commencement at Star Lake Confirmed
Continuing the Burgettstown Commencement tradition, the management of The Pavilion at Star Lake confirmed the availability of the venue for the last day of school, Thursday, June 4th. In the coming weeks, Dr. Cooke will communicate the senior calendar of events, with important dates, times, and other all related planning information.
Safety First
Student safety remains a top priority in the Burgettstown Area School District. On March 26th, students participated in a required school bus evacuation drill, giving them the opportunity to practice responding to an emergency situation.
During the drill, drivers reviewed essential procedures, including staying calm, following directions, and exiting the bus quickly and safely. Students also learned to move a safe distance away from the bus, leave belongings behind, and assist others when needed.
These drills reinforce safe riding habits and ensure that students are prepared, confident, and ready to respond if ever needed. We thank our our bus drivers for their continued commitment to student safety.
Club Hope Egg Hunt at BAEC
Our Club HOPE students from the Middle/High School brought smiles to our kindergarten students with a special egg hunt on Tuesday, March 31.
Held in the afternoon, this exciting event paired our older students with our youngest learners for a memorable experience filled with laughter, teamwork, and plenty of egg-hunting excitement.
We love seeing our Blue Devils come together across grade levels to create moments like thisโit was truly a highlight of the activities before the spring break!
In Mrs. Krull's BAEC Information Technology Special... PART ONE
Students in Mrs. Krullโs technology education special combined technology and creativity as they used binary coding to design personalized name bracelets. By translating letters into binary code, students gained a hands-on understanding of how computers communicateโall while creating something they could wear and share.
A fun and engaging way to bring coding to life, this activity highlighted both problem-solving skills and creativity in action!
In Mr. Sargent's BAEC Art Special...
Students in Mr. Sargentโs art class brought creativity and curiosity together as they created โmystery designsโ using white crayons. With a splash of color, their hidden artwork was revealed as they โdevelopedโ their designs into vibrant creations.
This fun and engaging activity showcased both imagination and the excitement of discoveryโwell done to our young artists!
In Mrs. Betschart's BAEC Music Special...
Students in Mrs. Betschartโs music class put their skills to the test during exciting drumming relay races! Working as teams, students read musical notes and performed the correct rhythms before passing it onโcombining music, movement, and a little friendly competition.
The energy was high and the engagement even higher, as students had a blast bringing rhythm to life in a fun and active way!
In Mrs. Koratich's BAEC Library Special...
Students in Mrs. Kortatichโs class put their vocabulary skills to the test with a fun and engaging game of BINGO. As they listened, learned, and matched key terms, excitement filled the room with each call.
Adding to the fun, Mrs. Kortatich couldnโt wait to reward winners with booksโturning learning into an experience that students could take home and enjoy. A great way to build vocabulary and a love of reading all at once!
In Mrs. Krull's BAEC Information Technology Special... PART TWO
Students in Mrs. Krullโs technology education class took their coding skills a step further by using binary code to create words and even their own initials. By translating letters into sequences of 1s and 0s, students explored how digital systems represent language in a fun, hands-on way.
This engaging activity helped students connect abstract coding concepts to real-world applicationsโwhile adding a personal touch to their creations!

Electronic Ticketing for Burgettstown Athletics!
This year, the Burgettstown Athletic Department is introducing digital ticketing for regular season football, volleyball, girls and boys basketball, and wrestling. Though all fans may still purchase a ticket "at the gate," but those who wish to avoid lines and pre-purchase an electronic ticket may do so by accessing the digital ticketing feature on the Hudl Fan page. Single game regular season tickets for both students and adults are available. Also, for those who know that will likely attend all games in a particular season, a season pass can be purchased. Please note: there is a processing fee, per ticket. This fee does not go to the school district, it is a vendor fee in support of the electronic ticketing feature. Scan the QR code or the button below to access the Hudl Fan page.
A reminder...
A Note about Commencement for the Class of 2026
Our school community has embraced the uniqueness of conducting commencement exercises at Star Lake for decades. The various management groups throughout the years have supported this by donating the use of the facility and we are most appreciative. While it is early in the school year, we want to make note that in order to hold graduation at Star Lake, flexibility in planning is necessary. Believe it or not, the planning for the next year begins shortly after the school year ends. We notify Star Lake management of our desired date and it is recorded as a preferred date. There are no guarantees, and in the past several years, we have not been able to finalize the date until some point in April. We know this causes a bit of anxiousness on the part of our seniors and their families, but if we want to continue this fine tradition, we must remain flexible. After last year's Commencement, we informed the management at Star Lake that our preferred date for this year's Commencement is June 5, 2026. While this is our preferred date, there is no guarantee that we will get it. As the months go by this year, the District will remain in contact with Star Lake management. When we know the confirmed date, we will communicate it to our students and families. Though graduation may be the last thing on anyone's mind this early in the school year, we wanted to communicate this information so there are no misunderstandings.
IT IS ILLEGAL TO ENTER A SCHOOL BUS WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION

(b) Notice.--A school district may place a notice at the entrance of the school bus that warns against unauthorized entry.
