What are we learning this week? What are we learning this week?

Literacy, Writing, and Social Studies: We will continue working on our writing skills in the area of personal narratives/small moments. We will explore how we can add interesting details and a good lead to our writing. We will continue to learn where to divide multisyllabic words and identify where the closed syllables are located in the word by identifying if the vowel makes it short sound or long sound and be exploring inflectional endings such as -ed and -ing. We will identify and explain the differences between our needs and our wants.

Math: We will continue working on addition and subtraction problems.

Science: We will continue exploring and learning about physical changes in matter.

Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD has partnered with Tutor.com in an effort to provide more support to students and families. This service is meant to provide after-hours, supplemental support for students and should not replace teacher instruction. Students needing academic support should always reach out to their teachers first, then are encouraged to use Tutor.com services as additional assistance when needed.

Literacy Tip: Read for at least 20 minutes per night at home and practice finding sight words in the books you read.

Math Tip: Practice counting sums of coins at home with your student, starting with the largest coin value (quarter) and skip counting till you get to the smallest coin value (penny). Practice sums of 10 (1 + 9, 2 + 8, 3 + 7, etc...). Continue practicing automaticity with doubles facts (2+2=4, 3+3=6, 8+8=16, etc...)
