Kindergarten Field Trip to the PUMPKIN PATCH!
We are SO excited to be going to Preston Trails Farm Pumpkin Patch in Gunter on October 28th! If you have any interest of attending our field trip as a chaperone, go ahead and fill out a background check! Background checks can take 7-10 days to process. All chaperones must have a background check on file. Click here to submit your background check!
Optional Phonics Practice at Home
On Mondays, we complete a 'blending line' together in class. The purpose of blending lines are for students to practice their phonics skills and use them to read words and sentences on the blending line.
On Thursdays, we complete our 'dictation' together in class. The purpose of dictation is for students to write the sounds they hear in words. As the year progresses, we will practice writing additional sounds in words! For now, we are working on writing the beginning sounds.
On both activities, there are directions listed to help you at home. Next week will be our first week completing these activities in class! After a few times, I'm sure your child will be able to explain how we do it but if you happen to have any questions, feel free to reach out to your classroom teacher.
These activities are optional if you would like additional practice at home!
Library Days
Kindergarten classes will be going to the library weekly! Please make sure to send your child's library book back on your class library days so they can check out a new book.
Mrs. Proffitt and Mrs. Taylor's class has library on Mondays.
Mrs. Nellis and Ms. Ferro's class has library on Tuesdays.
Ms. Rabe's class has library on Wednesdays.
Mrs. Starks' class has library on Thursdays.
Snack Reminders
- Make sure your child has a dry snack everyday.
- Please keep the snack separate from their lunch to avoid confusion.
- Snack should be low maintenance (no utensils required, like pudding and jello) and as health as possible (avoiding cookies and candy).
Kindergarten Reminders
- Make sure your child has a labeled water bottle every day.
- Please don't forget your child's car tag when you come to pick them up.
- Please send your child's take home folder back to school every day. Please clean out your child's folder every night.
- It would be helpful to go over your assigned family number with your student so they learn what their family number is. This will tremendously help with dismissal!
- We know that the transition to kindergarten can be tough for some students, but we kindly ask that students keep their stuffed animals, blankets, and any other toys at home. We do not want any of these special items to get lost or misplaced while at school.
