Bronze DofE Expedition: A weekend to remember
From Friday 10th to Sunday 12th, thirty of our students set off on their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Expedition – and guess what? They all passed! The adventure began on Friday afternoon with camping in Sittingbourne, and it was clear from the start that the weekend would be both exciting and challenging. Each student carried everything they needed for two days and two nights – tents, sleeping bags, clothes, food, and cooking gear – all packed tightly into their rucksacks. On Saturday and Sunday, the real challenge began. Armed with just a map and compass, students navigated at least 12 kilometres each day, walking for around six hours through the stunning Kent countryside with their rucksacks. The sun shone (mostly!), the scenery was gorgeous, and they even spotted some residents along the way — cows, horses, and even a few cheeky donkeys.
After each day’s walk, the teams got busy cooking on their Trangia stoves. There was pesto pasta, noodles, bacon and, of course, toasted s’mores, there was no shortage of creative camp cooking! It wasn’t just about walking or cooking though — it was about helping each other, solving problems together, and keeping spirits high when things got tough. By Sunday afternoon, everyone was tired, a bit muddy, but smiling. They had completed the expedition, gained confidence and independence, and made memories that will last a lifetime. As the DofE motto says: “You’ll come home with a rucksack full of washing — and an experience you won’t forget!” Well, our students certainly did! Huge congratulations to all 30 for their effort, determination, and teamwork, and a big thank you to Ms. Clarke, Mr. Tyerman, Ms Ball, and Ms Navarro, who guided them through the weekend.
Drama and Music Trip
Just For One Day-The Live Aid Musical
Students in our Drama and Music GCSE classes loved their visit to London's west End to see Just For One Day-The Live Aid musical on Wednesday. They enjoyed the live music and beautiful story throughout and were complimented on their engagement and behaviour by theatre staff and members of the public when leaving the theatre.
Francis House Feast Day Lunch Celebration
On Friday 3rd October students from St Francis House came together at
lunchtime to celebrate the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, our house’s patron
saint. St Angela’s was full of smiles and laughter as Francis students joined in
for a relaxed and joyful lunchtime celebration.
Everyone in Francis House was invited to take part, and it was wonderful to see
so many students coming together to share in the spirit of community that St
Francis is known for. The event featured music, a lively quiz about St Francis,
and plenty of snacks for everyone to enjoy. The quiz brought out some friendly
competition, with students testing their knowledge about the life and values of
St Francis — from his love of animals to his message of peace and simplicity.
The celebration was beautifully led by our Francis Chaplaincy Representatives,
who put a great deal of effort into organising and running the event. Their
enthusiasm and leadership helped make the lunch feel special and meaningful.
It was a great way to take a short break from the busy school day and spend
time with others in the Francis community.
As we remembered the example of St Francis — his kindness, humility, and
care for others — the event reminded everyone of what it means to be part of
Francis House: to look out for one another and to live with joy and
compassion.
A big thank you to the Chaplaincy reps and everyone who helped make the
feast day lunch such a success. Happy Feast Day, Francis House!
This Week’s Theme: “The Earth is the Lord’s”
Psalm 24:1 – “The Earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it.”
This week, our school’s focus is on Psalm 24:1, which reminds us that everything around us
– the land, the seas, animals, and people – belongs to God. It is a powerful invitation to
gratitude, responsibility, and care for His creation.
Our Year 10 Chaplaincy Team led a meaningful Harvest Assembly, encouraging everyone to
reflect on God’s world and how we can honour Him through our actions. From small steps
like reducing waste and conserving energy to helping others and supporting local farmers,
each action is a way of praising God and caring for His creation.
In form time, students were invited to continue this reflection by thinking about how they
can:
Thank God for His beautiful world.
Ask for His help to take care of the Earth.
Love others the way God loves us.
These moments of reflection and prayer reminded us that looking after the planet and
showing kindness to others are ways we live out our faith every day.
As we celebrate this harvest season, let us remember that we are all stewards of God’s
world, and it is our privilege to care for it and love others as He loves us.

Half Term Fun
FOSTUR AGM 21st October 2025 at 6.30pm
FOSTUR would like to warmly welcome all new parents and carers to the school community — and invite everyone to join us for our upcoming AGM. FOSTUR is all about fundraising, building community, and creating opportunities for parents and staff to work together. Every penny we raise goes straight back into the school - supporting things like the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Year 11 Prom, improved facilities, and donations to departments when extra help is needed. Your daughters directly benefit from all of this. But we can't do it without you. We urgently need more parents to get involved — whether you can help a little or a lot, every bit of support counts. Come along, find out more, and see how you can be part of something that truly makes a difference. We promise it’s worth it
