The Husky Monthly
Sherman County School Newsletter - End of Year!
The whirlwind of the end of the school year is upon us! We have so few school days left in the 24-25 school year and so many events and activities to hold while students are wrapping up their academics in their respective grade levels. There is much to celebrate and acknowledge from this school year.
We are very excited for the further development of our student leadership program. Recently Mrs. Sallee and Mrs. Petersen helped students prepare and hold student body elections for both the middle school and high school, for ASB positions as well as class representatives. Voting was wrapped up this week and we will be ready to begin making bigger and better plans for our student leadership and student body in the 25-26 school year!
We recently celebrated our certified staff during certified appreciation week. We are fortunate to have a staff who are dedicated to continuous improvement and growth with the constant goal of supporting and guiding each student to success. Please take a moment to thank your student's teachers before the end of the school year.
Mr. Leach prepared an excellent spring concert with our K-12 music program. A big shout out to him and all of our student musicians! Sixth grade outdoor school went really well thanks to Mrs. Petersen and Mr. B for taking our students so they could have that unique outdoor learning experience. And there have been too many field trips to name them all, but we are thankful for all of our parent chaperones, teachers who seek out these unique learning opportunities for our students, and the collaboration with the North Wasco transportation department who helps make all of these educational opportunities possible.
The preparations for graduation are well underway. Seniors have been busy decorating their caps, helping to build the graduation stage, and finishing strong in their classes. Please join us for graduation as we celebrate the graduating class of 2025 on May 31st at 11am in the Event Center.
As we begin to close out the 24-25 school year, let's all reflect and recognize that this year has been a year full of student growth, accomplishments, and many accolades. And while we have many areas to continue to improve upon in our school community, we are proud of the steps we have taken this year to work towards offering our students the best educational experience. We keep in mind the importance of continuously striving for this, knowing that is what students need and deserve in order to have all of the doors open to them as they walk across that graduation stage.
To the graduating class of 2025, we wish you only the best for your future. Your future is bright and each of you are capable of achieving whatever you set your mind to.
We are all proud of you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Fall
Thank you Craig!
After nearly 20 years dedicated to Sherman County School, our kid-favorite and do-it-all guy Mr. Craig Wood is retiring at the end of this school year from the Head Custodian position. Craig has been a fixture for our students and staff, and has developed lasting relationships with students and staff throughout the building. We are so thankful for his long-term commitment to our school, the facilities, and community. He will be missed in the hallways by all, from kindergarteners to seniors to the veteran teachers in the building. We have posted the job and are looking to hire our next Head Custodian, but we know there will not be another Craig Wood. Thank you Craig, for your reliable, hard-working, dedicated service to Sherman County School. We appreciate you!
