Unity Day is Wednesday, October 21 - Wear orange to school!
Island Lake staff and students will be participating in Unity Day. This event was created by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, in an effort to come together in one giant ORANGE message of hope and support. We will wear ORANGE to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.
ISLAND LAKE PTA
Get ready for the Island Lake fundraiser!
From October 19-30, you can support your student’s Island Lake experience by donating to the PTA Fundraiser. Just like last year, we’re asking for direct donations—which means there are no pledges to collect or plastic trinkets for your student to bring home. Importantly, it also means there’s no middleman taking a cut of your donations! Every dollar goes to supporting the PTA’s mission of advocating for the education and well-being of every child. We sponsor events and programs for students and families to build community, and directly support classrooms and teachers!
Starting on October 19, you’ll be able to donate one of two ways:
- Via Givebacks site (link and QR code to come when the site is live on 10/19)
- By sending a check to Island Lake—made out to the Island Lake PTA
Stay tuned for more information!

DISTRICT NEWS
Ballot question impacts all public schools
This fall, a proposed amendment to the Minnesota Constitution would increase annual funding to public school districts without raising individual income or property taxes. It will appear on the November 3, 2026, general election ballot.
If approved by voters, Mounds View Public Schools would receive an additional $371,000 annually.
Leaving the constitutional amendment question blank has the same effect as voting no. Approval requires a majority of all voters participating in the election, not merely a majority of those who answer the amendment question.

Holiday Matching Challenge
Make twice the impact this holiday season. The Ralph Reeder Food Shelf Holiday Matching Challenge is back with an unprecedented $200,000 match. Every new donation made through December 31 will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling your support for local families. Give today and help make the most of this incredible matching opportunity!
