News from Candice

Dear Cougar Families,

It has been an absolutely vibrant week at our school, and my heart is full seeing our building buzzing with so much excitement and community spirit! We kicked off the festivities with our first graders' American Symbols Program. Their patriotic songs were truly moving and brought tears to my eyes. Our third graders also blew us away with their Wax Museum, showcasing incredible research as they "brought to life" famous historical figures in full costume. Not to be outdone, our second graders displayed impressive engineering and empathy with their Zoo Projects, where their creative dioramas and design boards showed just how much they learned about animal habitats. It was wonderful to see so many families in the hallways celebrating these milestones with us!

As we look ahead, we are ready to keep that energy going with Field Day tomorrow! Please remember to send your kiddos to school with sunscreen, hats, and a water bottle, as they will be spending a significant amount of time enjoying the sunshine and physical activity. It is hard to believe we are entering the final two weeks of the school year, but we are committed to making every moment count. Please enjoy the photos below of our amazing students in action!

PARENT PORTAL ACCOUNTS:

Late July, we will be sending out an email to announce who your student’s teacher will be. In order to find out this information you will need to sign into your parent portal EngagED account. Please make sure you can sign into your parent portal account before the end of this school year. Make sure you write down your username and password. There will be no one in the office to help you over the summer! Please contact the office with any questions before the end of the year!

LIBRARY:

It's hard to believe but the end of the year is quickly approaching! The end of the year means all library books are due back to the library. I will be sending reminder emails for overdue books to your email address on file. All books not turned in by the end of the year will automatically be charged to your student's My School Bucks account. If you do not receive an email from the CME Library you can rest assured your child's books are turned in:-)

MED PICKUP:

Please plan to pick up your student’s medication at the end of this school year by 5/28/24. All medications and Medication Release Agreements EXPIRE at the end of the school year. The school cannot store medications in the health room over the summer. Please see the letter for more information.

MVHS CHEER CAMP -

Summer Cheer Camp is coming up and we have opened registration. June 1st - June 4th from 3pm - 6pm. Performance on June 4th!

Girl Scout Troop 68088 is bringing the Copper Mesa garden back to life and we'd love your help!

Curious what the Girl Scouts have planned for the space? We've created mock-up designs to help you visualize the reimagined space. The plans include a native Colorado plant nature walk, refreshed garden beds to support plant life cycle and science curriculum, birdhouses, outdoor classroom seating, and space for future weather and compost stations.

If you are able, we'd love your support bringing the CME garden to life! We've put together an Amazon Wishlist with supplies that will help us transform the space into a hands-on learning classroom for students and teachers. We are in need of gardening tools, landscaping supplies and learning elements. Thank you in advance for your donation!

GIRLS SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP -

KINDIE REGISTRATION -

Will your child be 5 by October 1, 2026? Begin the Kindergarten Admissions process today and take the first step toward an exciting year of learning and growth!

DCSD preschool students enrolled before January 1, 2026, will be automatically registered for kindergarten at their neighborhood elementary school—no extra steps needed.
