Notes From the Principal
April showers may bring May flowers, but we all know that when the warm weather hits, families start running to attend baseball practice/games, camping, fishing and many other activities that start to pile onto an already full schedule! You can't always "slow down and smell the roses," so how do you handle the stress of running in five different directions at once? How you handle it is a completely individualized decision, and no one can tell you what works for you; however, please remember that young eyes and ears are constantly observing and internalizing what they see and hear. Each one of us models for children ways to handle stress (good and not so good), and sometimes stopping to take a deep breath, identifying the stressor, and reassuring the children that "it's busy, but it's all worth it because you love seeing them play their sport and have fun" is all they need to hear to handle the chaos that spring can bring! Isn't that why we do what we do when it comes to children? Don't we allow the crazy schedule because we enjoy watching the joy children get from doing "all the things"? It's a challenging time of year, and school will wind down in less than 9 weeks! Let's make sure the children in our care have the opportunity to "bloom" inside and outside of school. Pause to enjoy the moments of celebration - there are so many!
