Message from Mr. Haugens
We have had a wonderful first full week of school! Our students hit the ground running, filling our hallways with energy and enthusiasm while demonstrating what it means to #LeadLikeAJaguar through Respect, Responsibility, and Care every single day.
This week, we held our annual Handbook Talks with first - fifth grade students to review school expectations and routines. As part of these conversations, we shared lessons on how our brains work—specifically exploring the connection between the Leader Brain (prefrontal cortex) and the Emotional Brain (amygdala). Students learned how to spot when their "amygdala alarm" is revving high and reset strategies to keep their Leader Brain in charge so they can learn, make great choices, and thrive.
Thank you for your continued partnership at home as we build a safe, supportive, and positive school community together!
Early Release Wednesday
Every Wednesday is an Early Release Wednesday for all grades Kindergarten - Fifth Grade. Please expect buses to arrive 30 minutes early.
MAP Assessment Window
Next week, all students across all grades at DuJardin will participate in our fall MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing! MAP is an adaptive, computer-based assessment in reading and math that adjusts question difficulty based on your child's responses. Because it is tailored to each student, MAP isn't a pass/fail test; instead, it provides our teachers with immediate, valuable insights into what your child knows and what they are ready to learn next. We use these results to track growth throughout the school year.
How Parents Can Help Prepare:
Ensure a Good Night's Sleep: A well-rested brain is ready for focused learning!
Eat a Healthy Breakfast: Fueling up in the morning helps maintain energy and focus.
Encourage Their Best Effort: Remind your Jaguar that MAP is simply a tool to help their teachers know how to help them grow—there is no need to feel nervous!
Arrive on Time: Help your child start the day calmly by arriving at school on time each morning.
Thank you for your partnership in supporting our Jaguars as they show off what they know!
Kindergarten Color Week
DuJardin is celebrating Color Week in Kindergarten this week and next week! Our youngest Jaguars are exploring and learning all about colors, and we invite the entire school to join in the fun. Check the schedule below, wear the color of the day, and let's show our Kindergarteners some big Jaguar support!
Monday: Red Day
Tuesday: Orange Day
Wednesday: Yellow Day
Thursday: Green Day
Friday: Blue Day (Week 2 will follow with Purple, Pink, Gray, Black/Brown, White, and Brown!)
Go Orange
Join us the week of September 28th as DuJardin Elementary participates in the Go Orange campaign! We encourage all students to bring in canned goods or non-perishable food items throughout the week. Let's have all our Jaguars wear Orange the first day to get into the giving Spirit!
Every donation stays local to help fight hunger and support families right here in our community—let’s show our Jaguars spirit and fill the collection bins!

Picture Day
Say goodbye to paper order forms and prepaying upfront! School Picture Day will look a little different this year, and we think you’re going to love it.
You don't need to do anything ahead of time except make sure your child comes to school feeling confident and looking stylish on Picture Day!
Color Portraits will take your child’s photograph and email a direct, secure link to you as soon as the proofs are ready to view. Once you receive the link, you can browse the photos online and order only the prints or digital packages you like best.
Picture Day is on Wednesday, September 30th—we can’t wait to see those Jaguar smiles!
Nurse Information

- Kindergarten: Physical, Dental, & Vision
- 2nd Grade: Dental
- Health Office Website
Student Needs:
Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.
About Your Student’s Medication:
The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process.
If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website.
Excused Physical Education Class:
Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Nurse's Office. A parent may excuse a student from PE for up to 3 days. (consecutively) Thereafter, a Doctor's note is required.
