A Note from the Principal
Dear Stehlik Families,
Welcome to a new school year at Stehlik Elementary! We are excited to begin another year of learning, growth, and new possibilities with our Stallions.
This year, we are bringing “STEM at Stehlik!” to life by encouraging students to think critically, solve problems, collaborate, and explore the world around them. As we embrace our theme, “Con ganas with grit we rise,” we will remind our students that success comes from approaching every challenge with determination, courage, and a willingness to keep growing.
Our school day is 7:35 a.m.–3:10 p.m., and every minute of instruction matters. We are seeing many students arrive late or leave school early. Even a few missed minutes each day add up and can affect a child’s academic progress. Please help us by ensuring your child arrives on time, remains at school for the entire day, and attends every day unless they are ill.
Our recent campus accountability rating was a D. Although our students made significant academic growth, we still have important work ahead of us—and we cannot do it alone. We need a strong partnership between our school and every Stehlik family.
You can support your child’s progress by having them complete ST Math and Amira practice at home each day. Consistent attendance, daily practice, and encouragement at home will make a meaningful difference.
Thank you for trusting us with your children and partnering with us in their success. Together, con ganas and with grit, we will rise! At Stehlik, we remain committed to giving our best all day, every day, because every moment matters!
With Stallion Pride,
Dora A. Garza
Principal, Stehlik Elementary

Students in grades 4 & 5 who scored masters on STAAR Reading or STAAR Math will automatically be screened during this time. Testing will take place between October 19-October 30.
The following definition is provided by the Texas Education Agency in their guidelines for gifted and talented programs:
Gifted and talented student means a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area; possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or excels in a specific academic field. If you would like to refer your child, click on the link below or scan the QR Code and complete the referral form. Contact Ms. Smith if you have any questions.
