π» 4th Grade - New Jersey Student Learning Assessment Adaptive Field Test π
October 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) Adaptive Field Test will be administered to all fourth-grade students at Roosevelt School on Wednesday, October 29, and Thursday, October 30, 2025. Testing will take place each morning for approximately two hours.
This Adaptive Field Test is part of the New Jersey Department of Educationβs effort to pilot new, computer-adaptive items that may be used in future NJSLA assessments. The purpose of the field test is to ensure that the questions are fair, accessible, and appropriately measure grade-level standards. While individual student scores will not be reported, participation helps improve the quality and accuracy of future statewide assessments.
To help your child do their best, please:
Ensure that your child arrives to school on time each testing day.
Encourage a good nightβs sleep and a healthy breakfast.
Remind your child to bring their fully charged Chromebook each day.
Reassure your child that this assessment is simply an opportunity to try their best and help the state improve the test for all students.
We appreciate your partnership in supporting our students as they participate in this important statewide initiative. If you have any questions about the NJSLA Adaptive Field Test, please contact your childβs teacher or the main office.
Sincerely,
Kelli Eppley
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction

π― The NED Mindset Mission Assembly & Yo-Yo Sale
Last week, our students participated in The NED Show: Mindset Missions, an interactive assembly focused on building a growth mindset and encouraging students to Never give up, Encourage others, and Do their best! π
Students learned that challenges help our brains grow and that making mistakes is part of learning. As a fun reminder of the lessons, weβre hosting a NED Yo-Yo Sale! Students can purchase yo-yos at school, which serve as both a fun activity and a hands-on way to practice perseverance and growth mindset skills.
Yo-Yos are on sale in the Main Office, through Friday, October 24th. We will also be hosting a NED practice Zone during recess for students to practice their yo-yo skills. All proceeds from this sale, help bring this positive program to another school in a pay-it-forward fashion!
