Academic Dishonesty
At Northern Burlington, we want every student to succeed based on their own effort and learning. Being honest in your work helps you truly understand the material, build confidence, and take pride in what you accomplish. When students choose to cheat or take shortcuts, it not only affects their own growth but also impacts the fairness and trust within our school community.
What Constitutes Academic Dishonesty?
Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to:
Copying another student’s work or allowing your work to be copied
Using unauthorized resources during an assessment
Plagiarism, including submitting work that is not your own or improperly citing sources
Sharing or obtaining test or quiz content without permission
Using technology, AI tools, or other assistance when not explicitly permitted by the teacher
Altering or falsifying academic information
Consequences
Students who are found to have engaged in academic dishonesty will:
Receive disciplinary consequences in accordance with the student handbook.
Lose points or receive a zero on the affected assignment or assessment, as determined by the teacher and administration.
Impact on Future Opportunities
Academic dishonesty may also affect a student’s eligibility for honor societies and other academic recognitions. Membership in these organizations require demonstrated character, integrity, and ethical academic behavior. Violations can result in denial of admission or removal from consideration.
We encourage all students to take pride in producing authentic work and to seek help from teachers, counselors, or academic support when they are struggling rather than making a choice that could negatively impact their record.
Thank you for your commitment to maintaining a culture of honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Blue & Grey Night

Students have been competing all year in various class competitions and events, with the current score at Blue: 158 and Grey: 155—it’s going to be a close one! Don’t miss this fun and spirited night at the high school!

Family Information Sessions - Registration required by Friday, February 27.
The New Jersey Student Learning Assessment–Adaptive (NJSLA-A) and the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment–Adaptive (NJGPA-A) are new versions of our statewide tests. What Can I Expect to Learn During the Information Sessions?
The New Jersey Department of Education, along with our assessment partner Cambium Assessment, Inc. (CAI), is hosting virtual information sessions to help families learn about the new tests. During each session, representatives from NJDOE and CAI will discuss:
• Why New Jersey gives statewide assessments
• How adaptive testing works
• What’s new in the upcoming NJSLA-A and NJGPA-A
• How these tests support students and families
Time will be made available for questions from participants. All sessions are free, virtual, and open to families. For those unable to attend, NJDOE will post the presentations for families to access at their convenience after the series concludes.

Local Food Resources for New Jersey Families
SFAs may be experiencing increased calls from families concerned about the potential loss of SNAP benefits on November 1st. Please note the New Jersey Basic Needs Information Hub offers a comprehensive listing of websites that can assist households in locating a local food pantry or soup kitchen. Families may also choose to access the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Food Bank of South Jersey, Fulfill, Norwescap, and Mercer Street Friends websites directly to search for local food resources.
Thank you for providing these important resources to families at this time, and for your unwavering work to ensure New Jersey students receive healthy, nutritious meals every day.
Clinical Corner
In reading Brene Brown’s book, Atlas of the Heart, I felt compelled to share her research about a few of the eighty-seven emotions and experiences she covers. She explains that some are not emotions but experiences that lead to emotions. In the next few Clinical Corners. I hope to expand your emotional vocabulary as I learn along with you. The ability to label our emotions is related to greater emotion regulation and psychosocial well-being. It’s moving away from “What’s wrong with me?” to “Oh, I am feeling _____.” The ability to articulate our emotions leads to deeper connection, with our families, friends, students-everyone.
