Youth Shape the Future - 2026 Youth Leadership Academy
YLA is an opportunity for high school students (grades 9-12) to learn about the roles of local and regional government, including regional planning, transportation, sustainability, land use, and the interaction with local non-profits and communities. Today’s leaders and decision makers across all sectors are planning and making decisions for the future. Those who are most impacted by those decisions are our youth. Often youth do not have the knowledge on how to inform policymakers, decision-makers, and elected bodies like SACOG, or their local elected officials. YLA is focused on youth empowerment to create pathways for young people to understand local and regional government and learn about career opportunities in public service.
The academy brings together students from Sutter, Yuba, Yolo, El Dorado, Placer, and Sacramento counties. This approach provides a rare opportunity for students to connect with peers from across the six-county region, meet and hear from their local and state elected officials and community leaders.
The deadline for applications is Sunday, March 1 at 11:59 p.m. Students can apply at sacog.org/youth.
AP EXAMS
Pay for your AP Exams NOW!
Students may now register and pay for their AP Exams in Total Registration. Students must create an account with TR if this is their first time using TR. Students who have a TR account must log into their previous accounts. If students need help with logging in, they can use TR's login assistance. Students have until March 6th to register and pay for their AP exams. Students seeking financial assistance can request support by following the prompts in TR as they are registering. After the March 6th deadline, students will incur a late fee of $45 (per AP exam), imposed by the College Board and it is not able to be waived, even with financial assistance.

School Experience Survey
The San Juan Unified School District has renamed its annual district climate survey to the School Experience Survey. This new name better reflects what the survey is about: your experience at your school! Parents, staff and students are invited to participate in the School Experience Survey. Your feedback is important and helps school and district leaders identify and make changes needed in their communities. The deadline for the survey is Feb. 6. Surveys are available online in multiple languages at: We greatly value your feedback and thank you in advance for your participation.
