Spring is in the Air

Dear CRMS Families,

Spring is an exciting time at CRMS! As the weather warms up, we see our students involved in more after-school activities, sports, and community events. These experiences are so valuable for growth, but they also come with the challenge of keeping up with school responsibilities.

We encourage families to help students find a healthy balance between their extracurricular activities and academic expectations. Setting up routines for homework, checking Schoology regularly, and planning ahead for big projects or tests can go a long way in helping students stay on track.

This season is also a great time to check in with your child about their social connections. Peer relationships can be a major source of joy—or stress—for middle schoolers. Please consider talking with your child about what it means to be a good friend, how to handle conflicts in a healthy way, and how to show kindness and empathy, even in tough moments.

By keeping communication open and encouraging positive habits at home and at school, we can help our students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Take Care. Be Well.

Tracking Student Attendance

In Maryland, student attendance is calculated based on the number of days a student is present in school. While we do differentiate between lawful (excused) absences and unlawful (unexcused) absences, all absences—regardless of the reason—impact a student’s overall attendance record. Lawful absences include reasons such as illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, religious observances when properly documented or other absences with principal's approval (ex: family vacation that is communicated ahead of time). Unlawful absences occur when a student misses school without an approved reason.

Regular attendance is essential for student success, and we appreciate your partnership in ensuring your child is at school as much as possible. If you have any questions about attendance policies or need to submit documentation for an absence, please reach out to the school office.
