We need YOU…NOW! We need YOU…NOW!

Based on recent information regarding realignment and Program Choice we are asking ALL R. Brown McAllister STEM families to complete the following steps as soon as possible (preferably by December 8th):

Program Choice Applications

1. Apply for a STEM seat via the Program Choice application process (see directions below).
    • This step is needed for ALL families (even those in the neighborhood) if:

      1. You want to continue STEM programming at R. Brown McAllister, and/or

      2. You want your child to remain in STEM programming.

    • Completion of the application helps secure your seat in STEM and demonstrates interest in having a STEM program offered at R. Brown McAllister.

    • Call the front office at 704-260-6270 for assistance (Scribbles support will be available from 7am-6pm on Monday, December 4th and Tuesday, December 5th.)

Realignment Feedback

2. Review the three re-alignment options and submit a survey indicating your preference (Choice A, B, or C), feedback, and questions.
    • Remember R. Brown McAllister is directly impacted by this realignment with the opening of our new building (these boundaries will determine the student-make-up for the new R. Brown McAllister).

    • Elementary boundaries and demographic information are on slides 1-3 for each boundary.

    • The survey is unlimited so please submit all your feedback and suggestions.

    • More information regarding Scenarios A, B, and C can be found at the EngageCCS site.

Winter Break Reading Challenge

We all know how important reading is, and that it is beneficial for our students to continue reading, even over a break! This year we are challenging our Bobcats to meet a reading goal over break using tracking sheets that will be sent home the week of 12/13. Students will choose at least 10 different reading challenges and attach them to the sheet as they are completed. If students reach the reading goal for their grade level and return the completed sheet to Ms. O’Neil after break, they will earn a free pajama day pass!

K-2: Read a total of 200 minutes

3-5: Read a total of 300 minutes

Thank you, and happy reading!

  • We'll process your application within 10 days of receipt and will send you a notification letter.

  • If you automatically qualify because you receive other benefits, like EBT, we'll notify you. If you don't get a letter or some of your children are missing from the letter, call us at the number below.

School-Day Visitors

Coming Into the School?

  • For the safety of our students and staff, all day-time visitors must be admitted through the front office and wear a visitor sticker.
  • When you ring the doorbell you will be prompted to show your ID to the camera. Please make sure you have it!
  • All visitors that wish to meet with a staff member should contact the appropriate person (i.e. classroom teacher, counselor, nurse, etc.) to schedule an appointment in advance. This will allow us to provide you the best customer service!

We Need You!

Our teacher assistants are increasingly being used to support students instructionally. Though we are excited to transition to more of an Instructional Assistant role, this does mean that they have less time for some of the supports previously provided for teachers (e.g. clerical, copies, lamination, etc.).

This is where our community and families come in! We would love to capitalize on our supportive school community by asking for the gift of time. Please see the sign-up sheet link below to donate a few small blocks (a few hours) of your time.

Link for Sign-Up: Clerical Support

All volunteers must be approved by Cabarrus County Schools. Please follow the link below to start the process and contact the front office with any questions.

Thank you for your continued support!

Lunch Visitors

We will begin allowing lunch visitors on Tuesday, September 5, 2022. This start date will allow teachers and students the first four weeks of school to develop lunch routines and cafeteria expectations, which are necessary for ALL students. We are excited to announce that students can begin having visitors at lunch beginning on Tuesday, September 5.

Important things to note:

  • Lunch visitors are not required to pre-register through Sign-Up Genius this year.
  • All lunch visitors must sign in through the front office. Please bring a driver's license to expedite sign-in.
  • Family members should report to the cafeteria for lunch and then sign out in the front office at the end of the lunch period.
  • We ask that visitors bid students farewell from the front lobby to allow for smooth and efficient transitions back to class or to other activities.
  • Visitors should wear a visitor tag while on campus. This helps our staff and students know that you are approved to be on campus during that time.
  • We will again have lunch visitor area reserved in the lobby for family members to eat lunch with their student (other students are not allowed to join visitors and should not join the classroom lunch tables).
  • All lunch visitors should be listed as a guardian or emergency contact for the student in PowerSchool. If someone other than those individuals will be visiting for lunch, the teacher should receive written permission from the parent/guardian.
  • There will be times during the year that we will not be allowing lunch visitors (EOG testing dates, 1/2 days, Winter and End of Year Party days, and possibly some others). Parents will be notified in advance of these dates.

Food and Drinks in the Classroom

  • Many students have started bringing Prime, Gatorade, tea, and other drinks to the classroom to drink during the day. Moving forward, water only is allowed in our classroom. You may send a low sugar, no caffeine drink in your child’s lunch that can be enjoyed in the cafeteria. Only water is allowed in the classroom.
  • Likewise, students may purchase breakfast from the cafeteria. Kindergarten through second grade students eat breakfast in the cafeteria and third through fifth grade students eat in the classroom. We ask that families work to have students either purchase breakfast from the cafeteria (which is easily transported and quickly/neatly eaten) or have students consume breakfast prior to coming to school. In order to reduce potential for pests in classroom, students are not allowed to eat lunches or outside breakfast foods in the classroom.
