MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS

Greetings Lindblom MSA Eagles community,

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we want to partner closely with families to ensure that our school remains a safe, structured, and positive environment for all students. This time of year often brings increased energy and, at times, increased behavior concerns. For that reason, it is especially important that we work together to reinforce expectations and prioritize student safety.

As a reminder, dismissal is at 3:05 p.m. on non-Colloquium days and 2:48 p.m. on Colloquium days. To support families and maintain student safety, students who remain on campus after dismissal are expected to report directly to a supervised space, such as athletic practice, an afterschool program, the library, or the social room, and remain there until 5:00 p.m. or until their program ends.

At this time, we need every family’s support to ensure students remain in designated supervised areas and safely transition off campus at the end of their program or practice. Effective immediately, for safety reasons, students who do not follow afterschool expectations or cooperate with staff will lose the privilege of remaining on campus after dismissal. Beginning SY27, students must be officially enrolled in an afterschool program or be a participating member of an in-season athletic team in order to remain on campus after dismissal.

We are sharing this information now so families have time to make any necessary arrangements. Additional information about contracted aftercare options will be shared as we move closer to summer. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us maintain a safe and supportive school community for all students.

Together we rise onward and upward,

Principal Banks

Parking Lot Concerns

Our top priority is ensuring that every student starts their day in a safe and secure environment. Lately, we have observed an increase in vehicles blocking through-lanes and emergency access points in our parking lots during morning drop-off.

While we understand the morning rush can be stressful, blocking traffic creates significant safety risks, including:

  • Preventing emergency vehicles from accessing the building.

  • Obstructing the vision of students walking through the lot.

  • Creating "blind spots" for other drivers.

We kindly ask that you follow the designated flow of traffic and avoid stopping in non-designated areas. By working together, we can ensure a smooth, and most importantly, safe start to the day for everyone.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and for putting our students' safety first

Skating Party

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! Our 7th and 8th-grade Academic Center students have been gifted a completely free, exclusive skate party!

Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 8, 2026 (Colloquium Day). From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, we will be at The Rink for a morning of fun. Skating admission and rental will be completely free of charge for our students.

A few important details:

Concessions: While skate rental is free, students will need to bring their own money if they wish to purchase anything from the concession stand.

Lunch: The Rink has kindly agreed to allow our students to bring their own bagged lunches. We are currently looking into the possibility of ordering boxed lunches for everyone, and we will update you as soon as we know more.

More details regarding the trip, including transportation and permission slips, will be sent out soon. For now, please save the date because the AC Swoop Bounce is officially on the books!

If you have any questions reach out to Mr. Taylor (ajtaylor20@cps.edu)

Student Spotlight

Congratulations to John Nettles! John was offered a spot at (MS)2 this summer. The candidates who were offered admissions demonstrated a strong interest in (MS)2 through their engagement throughout the admissions process, articulated their interest in math and/or science with great depth and breadth in their essays and interview, made strong connections between (MS)2 and the goals they have for themselves, and demonstrated high proficiency on their math application assessment. While many finalists possessed these characteristics, (MS)2 has a limited number of spots in our program, and these were offered to the strongest candidates.

We are pleased to share that four members of our Academic Decathlon team were selected to represent the state of Illinois at the Nationals Competition this year! They have worked hard throughout the year to learn the content of 7 subjects, prepare for interviews, and practice and memorize speeches to receive this recognition. Please join us in celebrating Alexa Capulin (12th grader), Alexia Banks (11th grader), Leah Harris (11th grader), and Raychel Billups (10th grader). Overall, we had an great season as a team, and we are very proud of our individual members for receiving this exciting opportunity.

Congratulations to Taylor Hamilton-Jones! Taylor is being celebrated for earning 53 early college credits. There will be a party to celebrate her success on May 19, 2026, at the UIC Forum. It will be a memorable day filled with great music, delicious food, and photo booths to capture the moment! We would like to see more of our students for these annual celebrations because they are all capable.
