Welcoming New Staff
Ms Richards
My name is Ms Richards, and I am delighted to be joining St Ursula's as a Religious Education teacher. I have been teaching in London for the past five years and have also spent two years working in a pastoral role as Head of Year, supporting students in both their academic and personal growth. I am passionate about helping young people explore life’s big questions around meaning, beliefs, and values, and I look forward to working our students as they develop their curiosity, understanding, and critical thinking.
Miss Davis
I’m really excited to be joining the St Ursula’s community this term as part of the PE department. I’ll be teaching PE across the school and taking the lead for the extra-curricular netball teams – something I’m especially looking forward to, as sport has always been a big passion of mine.
I’ll also be the form tutor for Year 7 Angela, and I can’t wait to get to know my form group and support them as they start their journey here.
I’m really looking forward to getting involved in school life, meeting pupils through lessons, clubs, and fixtures, and also having the chance to meet and work with parents as we support the students together.
Miss Ball
Miss Ball has several years' experience working across different schools in both teaching and support roles.
She also founded BakeYard, a social focused food business training young people in hospitality and catering while celebrating cultural heritage and community.
Thought for the week: What is Catholic Social Teaching?
Each week at St Ursula’s, we focus on a theme rooted in our Catholic faith. These weekly themes are accompanied by a quote from Catholic Social Teaching (CST), which helps us reflect on how our beliefs guide our actions.
This week’s theme was: What is Catholic Social Teaching?
Quote of the week:
“Catholic Social Teaching is the Church’s reflection on social, political, and economic issues in light of the Gospel and human dignity.”
Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that our faith is not only personal but social—it challenges us to stand up for justice, protect the vulnerable, care for creation, and treat every person with dignity. It calls us to be active in building a better, fairer world, inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus.
During form time prayer on Monday, students reflected on this quote, considering how they can bring the principles of Catholic Social Teaching into their own lives—at school, at home, and in the wider world. This reflection was guided by thoughtful and challenging questions, such as:
How do I usually respond when I see someone being treated unfairly? Do I speak up, stay silent, or walk away? What might Jesus want me to do?
What does it mean to me that every person is made in the image of God? How does that change the way I think about others—especially those who are different from me?
Are there people in my school, community, or world who are being forgotten or ignored? How can I show them dignity and love in a real way?
Do I use my voice, time, or actions to help make the world more just and kind? What is one small thing I can start doing this week?
These questions have helped students to connect the principles of Catholic Social Teaching with their everyday lives—encouraging them to act with kindness, courage, and compassion in all they do.
In our assemblies, we reflected on this call through the beautiful hymn “Here I Am, Lord.” The lyrics encouraged us to think about how we might respond to God's call to serve others. Just like the prophets in Scripture, we are invited to say, “Here I am,” and be willing to act when we see injustice or need around us.
By grounding our week in faith and reflection, we are reminded that each of us has a part to play in making our world more just and loving.
RE GCSE Drop in Sessions.
More information on GCSE Drop in Session will be communicated on Google Classroom and emailed to Parents in the very near future
RE Club (Thursday After School)
From September we are launching an after school RE Club in S6. The aim of the club is to give students the chance to explore a wide variety of thought-provoking topics beyond the classroom, from big philosophical questions to current ethical issues integrating religious education, ethics and philosophy.
Sessions will encourage open discussion and academic debate in a supportive environment, helping students to develop critical thinking, confidence in expressing their views, and respect for differing perspectives. Over the term, we will also build in short skill-focused activities and offer individual support to help students strengthen their reasoning, writing and debating skills.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are curious, enjoy discussion, or want to stretch themselves academically. Everyone is welcome.
