Greetings, Fishing Creek Families!

December is here, and with it comes an exciting month filled with learning, growing, and a touch of holiday cheer! As we dive into the second trimester, our students will continue to build on their academic success, tackling new challenges and celebrating their achievements along the way. While our classrooms are bustling with activity, December also brings plenty of festive fun, including the highly anticipated winter parties that will round out the month. It's a wonderful time to embrace the joy of the season while staying focused on our learning goals!

Friday, December 20th: Festive Friday (wear your favorite holiday sweater/gear)

We will be making changes to the afternoon Parent/Guardian pick-up procedures in the coming weeks to increase security and student safety. Stay tuned for more information and directions about those changes! More details will be sent via email and Seesaw soon.

Each year, Pennsylvania schools are given a building score by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This score is calculated based on academic performance across a school building by considering factors like student achievement data, student growth, and attendance rates. An average score falls between the numbers of 70-80, which represents an average level of academic performance across the school building. Scores above 80 indicate high performance and scores below 70 indicate areas for improvement.

Over the past three years, Fishing Creek’s building score has been steadily increasing. Please join us in celebrating our students and staff for the hard work and success they have had over the years! We look forward to our continued partnership to inspire even more growth in our future!

As the school year continues, parents are again asked to update their child's general information, emergency contacts and communication preferences in PowerSchool. You can begin making these updates on Monday, November 18th, through your PowerSchool Parent Portal. The deadline to complete the updates is Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024.

Please note: The Registration Verification must be submitted for all students, even if there are no changes. It is essential this information be current to ensure we can reach your family in case of an emergency. For step-by-step directions, click here.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the fundraiser! Together we had over $17,000 in total sales which raised over $8,700 for the PTO! We far surpassed our $12,000 in total sales goal and beat the previous two years of sales! These funds go directly back to students and teachers to help pay for various events, appreciations, field trips and more!

It's important that iPads come to school fully charged and ready to learn each day! Kindergartners, 3rd graders, and all new students will get their device at the beginning of the year.

We are also looking for day-to-day substitute teachers. You do not have to have a teaching certificate to become a substitute. WSSD contracts with STS to fill substitute positions. Even if you can only substitute occasionally, that little bit will help immensely.
