KEY NEWS FOR EXPLORER FAMILIES
We enjoyed seeing everyone at Sneak Peek. It is now officially the last weekend before this school year begins! Everyone at Northwood is excited for the first day of school on Monday. Be on the lookout for an email blast from homeroom teachers containing grade-level-specific information related to the first few days of school.
We'll be ready to greet the students as they arrive via bus or carpool and help them get to the correct homerooms. On the first day of school ONLY, we do allow parents to walk children directly to their classroom. We will begin the day with morning announcements at 7:40 am, so families will need to say their goodbyes before that time. The processes are smoothest if you start your planned arrival and dismissal routine on the first day so the students can get used to the routines.
For afternoon dismissal, please be patient with the school bus drop-off times as it takes time for the drivers and students to get into a groove with loading and route running. The Here Comes the Bus app is helpful, as it'll display the arrival time once the route has started. Thank you to everyone who has entered their Explorer's dismissal information into PickUp Patrol. For safety reasons, it is imperative that we have that information before the first day of school.
For families participating in afternoon carpool pickup, please do not pull into the circle until daycare vans have loaded and departed. While the daycare vans are loading, carpool guidelines will be reviewed with carpool students in the media center. It takes some practice for the students to learn the system and to get used to listening for their number and lining up in order when called. Carpool staff helpers will be available to help guide families new to the carpool process while families become adjusted to the routines. Please make sure the carpool tag is visible on the mirror. The numbers will be collected, students are then lined up in order and guided to their car. If assistance is needed in buckling a child after loading, you can pull off to the side once you've exited the carpool circle. By mid-August, the flow for bus routes and carpool loading will be quick and seamless.

Those can be found from the FCS Back-to-School link below. You will also see links for the transportation site, the health services page, and the Student Code of Conduct.
We can't wait to see everyone Monday morning! Together we shine! 🌟

CAFETERIA NEWS
CAFETERIA PRINCIPAL ACCOUNT FUND
Did you know? Our school community has a Cafeteria Principal Account Fund. This account will be used to fulfill any meal costs for students that reach an account balance of zero. We often have families and extended family members that ask if or how they can pay off lunch balances or support our students in this way, now the process of doing so is easy!
Should you be interested in adding to the Cafeteria Principal Account Fund, just send a check or cash to school in an envelope to Mrs. Rosa Gutierrez, our cafeteria manager, and notate that the funds go to the Principal Fund. Please reach out to Mrs. Gutierrez, gutierrezabr@fultonschools.org, if you have any questions.
