Anti Bullying week
Headteacher's comment
This week, we’ve marked Anti-Bullying Week with a fantastic range of educational activities, giving every pupil the opportunity to learn about kindness, respect, and the importance of supporting one another. Huge thanks go to Miss Vaughan, Miss Firth, and Mrs Wood for all their hard work and creativity in organising such a memorable programme.
Today, our school community came together for a brilliant Children in Need day. The enthusiasm and generosity on show were inspiring, and it’s wonderful to see everyone making a real difference for such a worthy cause.
Looking ahead, next week promises to be just as exciting. Our cross country team will be competing on Tuesday afternoon—good luck to everyone taking part! We also have a packed schedule of parent events running throughout the week. Please read on for key timings and dates.
Wishing everyone a restful and wonderful weekend.

Reception starters - September 2026
If you, or anyone you know, has a child who is due to start Reception in September 2026, please can you share the information below with them. Thank you.
Collective Worship
In worship this week, we launched Anti-Bullying Week by sharing the inspiring picture book I Choose to Speak Up by Elizabeth Estrada. The story encourages children to be brave, to use their voices kindly and confidently, and to stand up against discrimination in any form. It reminds us that we are all wonderfully unique, and that our world is made for everyone.
The book links perfectly to this year’s national Anti-Bullying Week theme, “Power for Good,” which celebrates the courage we show when we choose kindness, respect and inclusion.
At Overthorpe, we believe that Anti-Bullying Week is every week. Our Christian Values of forgiveness, friendship, hope, endurance and trust guide everything we do—helping our children to build strong relationships, show empathy and stand up for what is right.
Through stories like I Choose to Speak Up, and through daily acts of kindness, our pupils are learning that they each have the power to make our school—and the world—an even better place.

Anti-Bullying Week
Mindfulness Activities
As part of our Anti-Bullying Week celebrations, Mrs Wood and Miss Firth organised a wonderful range of lunchtime mindfulness activities for our pupils. Throughout the week, children enjoyed taking part in yoga, mindful colouring and calming sensory play.
These sessions created a peaceful space for pupils to relax, connect with friends and take care of their wellbeing. It has been lovely to see children embracing these opportunities so enthusiastically and building even stronger, kinder relationships with one another.
Children in Need
A Wonderful day of fundraising!
Thank you to all our families for your generosity, enthusiasm and support during our Children in Need fundraising event. Your kindness helped make the day truly special. We began with a lovely coffee and cake morning, creating a warm and welcoming start to the day. The children’s bright ‘spotty’ and ‘stripy’ outfits added to the excitement and brought real joy to our school community.
The fun continued at lunchtime, where Miss Vaughan organised a fantastic range of activities for pupils to enjoy. The day ended on a high with a whole-school sing-along—an uplifting way to celebrate such a meaningful cause.
Thank you to everyone who contributed, joined in and helped make the event a great success for this important UK charity. Your support makes a real difference.
