Great Start!
Wow- grades 1-4 had a really great start to the year! Students settled in quickly in their classrooms and their routines. Behavior at recess and lunch has been spectacular and it really seems like we are all so happy to be back together again.
Bus Number Changes - No More A & B
As some of you may know, we have made some changes to our bus routes this year- especially on busses 4 & 6. Busses 4 & 6 each run 2 routes in both the am and the pm. They do their first route (4A & 6A) then come back and pick up new kids to do a second route (4B & 6B) .
Having the A & B has been very confusing for our students and caused a lot of confusion for us adults too. We are renaming our B routes to 11 & 12.
Moving foward: starting on Tuesday
Bus route 4B will be known as Bus 11
Bus route 6B will be known as Bus 12
In hindsight we should have used these numbers to begin with. All other busses will remain the same.
Bus schedules
Bus routes are getting more and more efficient. Please continue to be early to bus stops and be patient for the bus to arrive. Bus times may slow down as we introduce our kindergartners to the routines and we add more students to the bus.
Kindergarten starts Tuesday
We are looking forward to welcoming our new Kindergarteners on Tuesday.
Families - We know how excited everyone is- but please know that families will not be allowed into the building. If you are dropping off, please start a strong routine now of saying goodbye in the car and empowering your child to walk in independently. We have many many adults ready to greet them and get them to their right locations.
Carline arrival and dismissal
Carline Arrival:
Students coming to school via carline may only be dropped off via the Ray St. entrance. Cars will line up in the Ray St. driveway and down Ray St. toward Park Ave. Left turns into the driveway from Ray St. are not allowed. Please adhere to the following directions for dropping your child off in the morning:
Wait with your child in the vehicle until signaled to let your child get out of the vehicle.
Only allow your child to exit on the passenger side of the vehicle
Have all materials ready to allow for a quick exit.
Stay in line and only move when the whole line is moving and follow the flow of traffic
Follow adult signalling for when to move and when to allow children out of the car.
Stay alert during drop off and drive slowly for student safety.
Be patient during drop off
No car drop offs are allowed in the front of the building until after 8:35
At 8:35- the cones will be put up in the driveway- any drop offs after that are tardy and must come to the front and walk your child in.
Do not drop your child off on Ray St., only once you are in the driveway and a staff member has signalled it is safe to do so.
Do not park in a parking space to wait to drop off- staff need those spaces to get to work.
We understand that at the beginning of the year, students may need help exiting your vehicle. By the end of October, all students should be able to exit the vehicle independently.
Carline Dismissal:
At the end of the day, pick ups happen in the Ray st. Driveway. All pick ups should get in line no earlier than 2:45 pm- dismissal starts at 3:05. The line starts in the driveway and extends down Ray st and onto Park ave. No Left turns into the driveway are permitted. Cars should not do U-turns on Park Ave to get into line.
Be prepared to give your dismissal number to a staff member as you wait in line
Students will be sent out according to the order dismissal numbers are given
Follow adult directions for pulling up to get in line, even if you see your child in line.
We understand that at the beginning of the year, students may need your help getting into the car and buckled. By the end of October, students should be able to get into the car and buckled independently.
Administrator assignments
Who Should I contact?
Who Should I Contact?
In most situations, a families first point of contact will be your child's teacher. There are times however that you may need to reach out to an administrator with questions or concerns.
To better support our students and families, we are dividing grade-level responsibilities among our administrative team. This allows each administrator to build strong relationships with specific grade levels and provide consistent support to students, staff, and families.
Please contact the administrator assigned to your child’s grade or program:
Pre-school: Mr. Glazier
Kindergarten: Mrs. Ochocki
Grade 1: Mrs. Ochocki
Grade 2: Mr. Aronian
Grade 3: Mr. Aronian
Grade 4: Ms. Puliafico
Subseparate/Resource Rooms: Mr. Glazier
Special Education: Mr. Glazier
Not sure who to contact? Please reach out to the main office, and we will be happy to connect you with the appropriate administrator.
