Mill Valley Weekly
September 26th, 2024
Hello Mill Valley Families,
We are so excited to continue partnering with PTO on our first ever Read-A-Thon at Mill Valley! Every morning, we announce the top classes who have the most reading minutes as well as classes who have the top donations so far.
We are getting closer to our goal so PTO can purchase our Book Vending Machine! The goal of the PTO is for every student at Mill Valley to be able to select a book from the vending machine by the end of the year!
Thank you to everyone who has registered and donated so far! If you haven't had a chance, it's not too late. CLICK HERE to register. Every student who registers gets a ticket to enter in the raffle prizes! Check out all of the incredible incentives and raffle prizes below in the PTO section. And don't forget...our Olympic Themed Spirit Week to go along with the Read-A-Thon begins on Monday, September 30th!

Monthly Attendance Updates
Once a month, you will receive an email from Infinite Campus detailing your student’s attendance history. All families will be receiving this email even if their child has not been absent from school. This email is meant to be a communication between school and home. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Jaime Goelz, School Social Worker at jaime.goelz@muskegonorway.org. Good attendance habits in the early grades are strong predictors for future success in high school and beyond.
2024-2025 Family Communication Plan
This year, classroom teachers will be teaching with two new resources! This will be an adjustment for staff, students, and parents/caregivers. We want to be sure to offer multiple opportunities to keep families engaged and learning alongside our staff and students. Each month, there will be a short (less than 5 minutes) recorded presentation shared with you that answers a focus question. The videos will cover various curriculum topics. Please see the outline below. These videos will be linked in school newsletters and posted on the Muskego-Norway Teaching and Learning website.
If you have questions/topics you would like addressed, please submit them using the Google Form linked HERE.
Picture Retake Day ~ Wednesday, October 9th
- If your student did not have their picture taken at our Student Summit on August 28th, they will have it taken on October 9th. Ordering information will be sent home that day.
- If your student had their picture taken, but a retake is needed, please return the original picture package to the photographer at the time of pictures. The same package will be ordered with the new image. New packages will not be received unless the original package is returned.
Please contact Customer Service with any questions 262-780-2901
In order to participate in the event, ALL 2nd, 3rd, & 4th graders must fill out THIS WAIVER.
Students who do not fill out the waiver will be able to watch the events, but not participate.

Destination Imagination
We are so excited to kick off a new season of Destination Imagination (DI) in the Muskego Norway School District! DI is an international program that allows kids of all ages to be involved in creative problem-solving. If you participate in DI, you will join a small team with other students from your building to solve an open-ended problem, or “challenge,” and then present your solution at a tournament.
**Would your child like to be involved in DI? Before nominating your child, please consider if your child has any of the following criteria:
motivated learner
likes challenges
creative thinker
enjoys expressing self orally
likes to write creatively
likes to draw and make things
**Would you consider being a coach (team manager) and spending more time with your child?
As a coach, your role is to give direction, not to solve the actual problem. The students are to solve the problem as a team.
You will organize meeting dates and times for a team of students to work on the problem in person after school hours or on the weekends.
Please click this link to a Parent Handout with additional information.
