Our Catholic Identity
Virtue of the Month for December: Temperance
Pray for One Another
Each month, we will include prayer intentions shared from our school and church community.
Please pray for:
*the school family facing a tough cancer battle
*a few friends expecting little ones
*couples working through difficult marriages
*Christian martyrs in Nigeria
*those without food and shelter
Please thank God for:
*Jesus' birth
*Bishop Jacques and Pope Leo
*our teachers and staff
If you would like us to pray for you, let Mrs. Durand know, and she will include your intention in the next newsletter.
Sharing a Little Jesus
On Mondays during our whole school morning meeting, Mrs. Durand recognizes an Upper School and a Lower School student who have epitomized the virtue of the month--and thanks them with a little Jesus. Congratulations to the students who showed love for neighbor this month: Rhett, Mia, Fausto, Evelyn, Gianna, Killian and Vivian.
In December, we will look for examples of temperance as our Virtue=Strength focus. Self control and moderation are additional support words and intemperance goes against our virtue.
Christmas Meal Bags
Thank you to the many families and staff members who brought in canned goods for our Thanksgiving bags. We provided meals for over 35 families in our community.
We will start collecting for our Christmas Meal Bags next week. Check your Wednesday folder for the needed items.
Real Parents Sharing the Hard and Beautiful Struggles
As a parent with adult children, I look back at some of the frenzied holiday preparation (shopping, baking, gift wrapping, cooking, socializing, etc) I put myself through--and now realize that my children don't really remember much of those efforts.
As Bob and I anticipate the arrival of our first grandchild, I love hearing my girls share their favorite memories of Christmas:
*decorating the tree and house together--with hot chocolate and a Christmas movie
*going to my parent's house for the Holy Supper (a tradition from my mom's polish upbringing)
*visiting my in-laws house on Christmas Eve where uncles, aunts, and cousins were waiting
*anticipating fun stockings on Christmas morning
*going to church together
*listening to Christmas music
*putting the ornament on the cross-stiched tree of our Advent calendar each day
Guess what?! Neither daughter speaks of presents or having a perfectly decorated house or having a social media worthy meal to post. Each memory involves people--the people who love them and who they love. They remember the precious gift of time, and laughter, and love. They cherish the precious gift of our Savior.
As Advent begins, I wish you less of the hustle and more of the laughter; less of the bustle and more of the time together. Remember, a Savior is born!!
"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it".
Ephesians 6:4
Do you have a parent moment to share in our Parents Corner? Email Mrs. Durand with your question or story. This journey is never perfect so feel free to share the successes, the oops, the advice, and the funny.

Holy Hour/Hungry Hour
Thank you to the many families who joined us for the Holy Hour/Hungry Hour. Holy Hour is a quiet time of prayer and reflection in front of the Eacharist, which we believe is Jesus' body and blood.
Catholics and non-Catholics are welcome to come and pray, just sit, or read as you spend quiet time with Jesus. We will have another Holy Hour/Hungry Hour soon, and we hope to see you there!
Of course, the Hungry Hour part means time to eat treats and spend time with your child and other families. Taking time together in prayer and in fellowship are beautiful ways to create memories and to build a stronger family rooted in faith.
North Charleston Christmas Parade
We are signed up again to participate in the parade this year, but the weather is looking cold and wet. Please stay tuned for updates regarding our participation.
