Off to a Great Start!

We had a great couple of weeks back at GCHS! As we welcome the start of another school year, we are thrilled to see our students back in the classrooms! September brings fresh opportunities for academic growth, personal development, and community engagement. Newsletters (like this one) will be sent each month to ensure you stay informed.

Students and staff are working hard to get settled into school routines. We look forward to partnering with you in supporting your child’s success. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead filled with new challenges, achievements, and memorable experiences!

We have a busy month ahead and want you to be aware so please read fully and click on all necessary links.

As always, we invite you to connect with your child's teachers, Advisor, and the office with any questions.

Happy Fall,

Mrs. Shannon

The importance of Daily Attendance cannot be overstated.

  • Our trend data shows that we are going in the right direction.
  • We still have a ways to go with 23% of students chronically absent in 2024-25.
  • The students that were chronically absent in 2024-25, failed 69 classes.
  • ANY* absence - excused or unexcused counts toward absenteeism. *School Sponsored events are the only exception
  • Be definition - Chronically absent is missing 10% or more of school. (That means missing <2 days per month, or 17 total days, over the course of the school year.)

2024-25 Yearbooks are in! Students should pick them up from Mrs. House. 2024-25 Yearbooks are in! Students should pick them up from Mrs. House.

GCCSD is transitioning to FastBridge as our assessment tool (previously MAP).

What does that mean?
  • Only 9th and 10th graders will assess. Wed. 10th (Reading) and Thurs. 11th (Math)
  • No alternative schedule - it will be done during their regular English and Math classes
  • 💻Send your student with their Chromebook fully CHARGED 🔌
  • If your child has 🎧corded headphones🎧, please send them to school!
  • Encourage them to TRY! 🧠All we ask is for them to DO THEIR BEST! ⭐ This gives us a glimpse of each student's math and reading levels.
