A Note from Mrs. K

Dear Lincoln families,

We’re off to a great start! It’s been such a joy to see the excited faces of our students as they take in this year’s theme (Level up!), meet new teachers, and make new friends.

A few arrival and dismissal reminders to ensure a successful day for your student(s).

  • Our building opens at 7:45am. If your student walks or is dropped off earlier than that, they will have to wait respectfully until the building is unlocked. There is no adult supervision outside (or inside) prior to 7:45am.

  • School starts at 8:10am. Students who arrive after 8:10am will be marked tardy.

  • Breakfast is served from 7:45 - 8:10am. Students who arrive at 8:10am will have 5 minutes to eat. Students who arrive late will miss breakfast service, as our kitchen staff begins to prepare for lunch.

  • Attendance is important! Please lincolnoffice@pellaschools.org or call our office if your student will be absent, and please include a reason for the absence. If you haven’t reviewed our attendance policy in the handbook, you can find it on our school website.

  • Bus tags need to stay on backpacks. Tags ensure all staff can help get your child where they need to go at dismissal. If you notice your child’s bus tag has incorrect information on it, please call our office.

  • Submit transportation changes by 2:45pm (1:15pm on early-release days). You can find this form on our district’s website or app.

  • All students must be picked up by 3:35pm. School ends at 3:20pm, and we start releasing students being picked up shortly afterwards. If you are unable to get to Lincoln in time, coming from Jefferson or Middle School, please consider one of the following options:

    • Pick up your Lincoln student(s) first. Older students can wait unsupervised, but younger students can’t. We don’t have enough staff to supervise students beyond 3:35pm. Our school is much smaller, so we get through our pick-up line much faster!

    • Have older student(s) take the bus to Lincoln. You can pick up your younger student(s), then wait in our Main Street parking lot until your older student gets off the bus and walks around the building. (Please do not park on the back/Broadway lot.)

    • Have younger student(s) take the bus to Jefferson/Middle School. You’ll need to have your older student(s) wait for their younger sibling to exit the bus, then walk to your car.

A quick heads up: Homecoming is really early this year (September 11). Look for information about our all-school pep rally field trip sent via email next week.

Finally, if you aren’t following Pella Schools on social media, you should be! We’ve been challenged to “tell our story” through pictures and video, and we have so many wonderful things to share!

In partnership,

- Mrs. Kirkwold

Help Us Get Our Mileage Club Up and Running! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We need your help to get our Mileage Club up and running—pun intended! 😊 Please consider volunteering and helping our students start their day with movement, encouragement, and lots of smiles.

When: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday
Time: 7:45–8:15 AM
Grades: PreK–3rd Grade

What You’ll Do:
Help create a positive and encouraging environment as students walk or run laps along designated routes during Play Club time. Your role is simple: cheer them on, encourage them to stay active, and help make Mileage Club a fun part of their morning!

The activity will take place outside, weather permitting. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll move inside to the gym.

All you need to bring is your smile, positive attitude, and a little enthusiasm! Together, we can help our students build healthy habits while having fun along the way.

We’d love to have you join us!
