WCTC Student's Launch New Woonsocket Student Community Network (WSCN)!
We are proud to announce the launch of the Woonsocket Student Community Network (WSCN), a student-led initiative that will be produced at the Woonsocket Career and Technical Center (WCTC) by our talented students and staff!
WSCN is designed to bring our school community together by giving students a voice and an opportunity to take an active leadership role in connecting our schools and community. Through this network, students and staff will share important updates, promote upcoming events and opportunities, celebrate student accomplishments, and highlight the many positive things happening throughout Woonsocket.
Our First Edition! To kick off WSCN, our students are sharing important Halloween safety tips to help keep children, families, and community members safe during Halloween festivities. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to watch the video below and hear directly from our students!
Whether you are a student interested in getting involved, a teacher looking to share classroom or school activities, a family member hoping to stay informed, or a community member eager to support our students, WSCN is a place for everyone.
We look forward to showcasing the creativity, talents, and voices of our students while strengthening connections throughout our community. Join us as we celebrate all the wonderful things happening across the Woonsocket Education Department and in the Woonsocket community.
Bernon Heights Elementary School Recognizes Students of the Month!
Bernon Heights Elementary School are excited to recognize students for demonstrating respect within our school community!
As part of their school-wide celebration, Bernon Heights held a special student of the month ceremony to recognize students who consistently demonstrate respect through their words, actions, and interactions with others.
Respect is an important part of creating a positive school environment. Whether it is showing kindness to classmates, listening to others, following directions, including everyone, or treating people and school property with care, these actions help make our school a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Bernon Heights also hosted an Anti-Bullying Week where students were able to learn how to be upstanders and how to be respectful of all students in the building. Classrooms choose 3 students who are kind, respectful, include everyone, and stand up for others who are bullied.
Congratulations to the amazing students who were chosen!
Leo Savoie Elementary School Recognizes Students with Perfect Attendance
During the month of September, 102 Savoie students achieved perfect attendance! We are so proud of the effort and commitment these students have shown by coming to school every day.
Savoie also had a classroom that has achieved three consecutive weeks of perfect attendance! What an amazing accomplishment!
At Savoie, we know that being at school every day helps our students learn, grow, and build strong friendships. We will continue to encourage and celebrate regular attendance because every day counts, and every student matters!
Recently, Savoie celebrated a Pink Out Day in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The entire staff participated. The students and staff are continuing to support the community with their Sock Drive and Food Drive. They are collecting new socks for the month of October to help community partners and those less fortunate than us. In November, Savoie collect non-perishable food items to assist families during the winter months. In December, with assistance from the Elks Club, the Savoie community will provide winter coats for any student or family member that might be in need.
WHS Villa Novans Soccer Team Capture 2026 JV Jamboree Tournament Championship!
Recently, the Woonsocket High Villa Novans proudly captured the 2026 JV Jamboree Tournament championship, finishing the tournament with an impressive 4–1 record.
Sophomore goalkeeper Adama Dieng delivered an outstanding performance between the posts, backed by a strong and disciplined defensive effort led by senior Jesus Netro. Offensively, sophomore Amadou Dia led the way with four goals throughout the tournament.
The Villa Novans secured the championship with a thrilling 1–0 victory over Toll Gate. Freshman Julian Torres came through with the game-winning goal, finding the ball in the box and placing a shot into the bottom-right corner of the net.
We are extremely proud of these student-athletes and all they have accomplished this season. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment have been evident day in and day out. They continued to show up, put in the effort, and support one another, and their hard work paid off in a championship finish. Congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding accomplishment!
