As the season of giving approaches, we are once again called to uplift our school community by supporting those in need. Many Richland One families continue to face challenges, including food insecurity, but together we can make a difference in a meaningful way. This year, Richland One is proud to once again partner with the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department and Harvest Hope Food Bank to host the 2027 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Honor the Dream Food Drive. Food Drive Details Dates: October 12, 2026 - November 13, 2026

Happy Halloween Bone Bridge! The challenge was to build a bridge that was at least three inches in height and four inches in width using scotch tape and q-tips (but they look like skeleton bones). Students collaborated to determine the best method to build a bridge based on the requirements and a bridge strong enough to hold a roll of pennies. It was a great opportunity for students to brainstorm and work together.
Read with the Gamecocks. We had over fifty students participate this year and fifty four students earned tickets to see two University of South Carolina basketball games.

If your child needs to go home a different way than normal:
- Send a note or email their teacher AND the front office! It has to be in writing!
- If the person picking up in car rider or walker line is NOT on your pick up list, IT HAS TO BE IN WRITING (via email or handwritten) by the parent for them to pick up and you will need to include their name and contact information.
- Last, but certainly not least, PLEASE do not call a change in after 1:45 and unless their is a doctors appointment or emergency and do not do an early pickup after 2:00pm. We want to make sure your child is in the right location to get home safely and avoid confusion. Thank you!
