Welcome Back Raiders!
Dear OHMS Families,
What a wonderful start to our school year! It has been such a joy to welcome our students back into the building and to get to know our new 5th graders. Raider Pride is shining, with students earning Raccoon Tickets for demonstrating positive behavior. These tickets allow us to celebrate with exciting rewardsâlike a student vs. staff soccer game once a goal is met. We also recognize students through weekly drawings, as well as during our monthly assemblies, where we celebrate Student of the Month honorees and hold fun grade-level games for the Spirit Stick. Grade 6 earned the first Spirit Stick, and weâre looking forward to seeing which grade will finish the year as the overall winner!
Thank you to all who attended our Open House! The turnout was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many families connecting with teachers and staff. The event truly set the tone for the strong community we are building together at OHMS, and the excitement among our students was clear.
Our fall sports teams have kicked off their seasons with energy, showing teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit. In addition, weâve launched a variety of clubs, giving students opportunities to explore their interests beyond the classroom. As a reminder, we do have a late bus available for students who stay for after-school activities.
Our first school dance was a huge successâthank you to the staff, chaperones, and families whose support and donations made the night so special. The students had a wonderful time, and it couldnât have happened without you! If youâd like to chaperone or donate for future dances, please complete our volunteer form.
We are also wrapping up fall NWEA testing and look forward to sharing reports with you during Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 12th from 3:30â6:30 PM. A sign-up sheet will be shared closer to the date so you can reserve a time that works best for your family.
Looking ahead, here are some important upcoming dates:
-
Picture Day: October 7th
-
In-Service Day (no school for students): October 10th
-
Next School Dance: October 24th
-
Parent-Teacher Conferences: November 12th, 3:30â6:30 PM
-
Picture Retakes: November 18th
We are incredibly proud of the staff, students, and families who make OHMS such a special place. We encourage you to get involvedâwhether by chaperoning a dance, joining a field trip, or even applying to substitute at our school. Volunteer forms are available on our website, and substitute applications can be completed online under employment opportunities.
Thank you for your continued support as we move into this new school year. Weâre excited for all thatâs aheadâletâs keep up the hard work and, of course, the fun!
Best,
MaKayla Stevens

Habits of Work
Habits of Work at Oak Hill Middle School are used to assess student's behaviors and expectations. Additionally, they are also used to determine eligibility for extra & co-curricular activities. This eligibility check occurs roughly every three weeks over the school year and students are required to have 2's and above on all habits to continue with their activities. Please see the attached image that displays each habit and how they are assessed.
