West Point El. Parent Update
Week of April 27, 2025
Dear West Point Families,
We would like to thank our PTA for sponsoring the Fun Run and the Book Fair this past week, and we would like to thank our community for supporting these events. The PTA was able to earn $7,539 from the Fun Run thanks to your generosity! We have included a list of the final winners below.
This coming week is Hope Week, sponsored by our Jr. Hope Squad. Students are invited to dress in neon or bright colors this Monday because "hope makes our school bright." Please see below for additional information for the week.
We would also like to make a request for our office. If you need to call the office to relay a message to your student about a change in transportation, please try to call before 3:00 p.m. We know that there will be last minute emergencies. However, as a general rule, we ask that you respect this request. We often get multiple calls right before the bell is about to ring, and it is very difficult to track down students once they have left their classrooms. Thank you!
Here are three important things to know for the coming week.
- This week is Hope Week, which is sponsored by our Junior Hope Squad. Hope Week is a reminder for all our students to be kind to each other and to look for the positives in life. Students are invited to dress up to a different theme each day. Please see the Hope Week calendar below.
- If you haven't done so yet, please return the yellow Excellence Project slip to school on Monday for students who are participating. This note lets us know how your student will be displaying their project and helps us plan the set up. We will display students' Excellence Projects Wednesday, May 7 - Tuesday, May 14. Parents are invited to come view the Excellence Projects on Tuesday, May 14 from 4:00-6:30. All projects will be sent home on Wednesday, May 15.
- Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is next week, May 5-9. Please watch for information from the PTA on ways you can tell your students' teachers how much you appreciate them.
Sincerely,
Marjorie Conrad and Christie Bouy

April Brag Tags
This is the last week for students to earn their April attendance and reading brag tags. Please encourage your students to earn their brag tags this month! Students can earn an attendance brag tag if they have 0-1 absences for the month. They earn their reading brag tag by reading at home at least 18 days during the month.
Magical Manners
We are going revisiting some of our favorite manners for the remainder of the year. This week's manner is, "Learn to compromise," which is an important friendship skill.

April's LETTERING Focus - P for Perseverance
This month we are focusing on Perseverance. Perseverance includes working through challenges and not giving up until you meet your goal. Students will have an opportunity to pick a goal for the month of April and identify something they can do each day to achieve that goal. They will be asked to spend 10 minutes/day practicing or working towards their goal. It can be something as simple as reading an extra 10 minutes/day, practicing a musical instrument or a sports skill, etc. Students who complete this challenge will earn their letter P for the month!

Attendance Adds Up
Please be aware of your students' attendance and help them to be at school every day. We understand that students who are sick need to be home. However, missing a day of school here and there adds up quickly and puts students behind. Thank you for your support!
